Coach Welcome Guy McKenna - line coach for 2016

Love that there's already people making unironic "boy's club" calls. :drunk:

We have 2 West Coast (Worsfold/McKenna though 1 could be considered Gold Coast), 1 Essendon (Harvey), 1 Geelong (Egan), 1 Adelaide (Skipworth), 1 Melbourne (Neeld) on the coaching panel.

Not sure how that makes a boys club. Maybe it's jealousy that we have pulled off something of a coup in getting both Worsfold and McKenna?

Provided they all listen to each other and work cohesively I think it's a brilliant coaching setup. Hopefully I'll say the same in 12 months time.

Looking at it its also a pretty "hard nosed" group in Harvey, Worsfold and McKenna. I'm hoping that type of mentality rubs off onto the players.

There's always the danger that the players/club will kind of feel "owed" after what its been through, hell supporters might even feel that way. I cant think of a better bunch of people to pick the club up, give it a slap and put everyone on the same path to earning back its respect and standing.

Worsfold played with McKenna = boy's club / jobs for mates, goes the logic. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A lot of ex senior coaches in the coaching group. Hope it's a positive. Doesn't look like we are grooming any young coaches for the future.
Egan is that man.

Skippy is a former don as well, remember?

My mistake.

How dare we continue to develop the bloke who we've invested this much time into as both a player and especially a coach. He needs to be kicked to the curb pronto. We can't stand for this boys club nonsense just because we've seen good results in his VFL coaching.

Would want to be pulling your weight with Harvey, Woosha and now Mckenna there.

Im unsure if its too old and doesn't generate enough new concepts, strategies, tactics, ideas. I hate listening to old peoplw talk about footy like its the same as it was only like 20 years ago these people have no idea. Mckenna did prove himself at Gold Coast he did nothing wrong.

At the time I thought Bluey was a bit stiff. Then the shitshow exploded this year and I was left wondering what the hell he was doing up there.

Was it Hird, Bomber or Egan's fault that Carlisle was doing lines?

I'd forgotten there was only one player with issues at the Gold Coast. Not a player selling drugs to multiple players, player retiring due to "lost passion" following changes to the drug code, stories of clear double standards amongst players, seemingly a complete and utter lack of discipline amongst the playing group based on what has been said and seen this year.

Media must have made that all up.

And you don't know more of our own players aren't doing lines? Jake only got caught through his own stupidity, like Bennell. The coach isn't responsible for every players off field actions FFS.

It was facetious...

He's responsible for the culture. For the attitudes. The way they conduct themselves. A lot of that goes back to the coach. Don't believe me, watch The Chosen Few.

The Suns were an absolute mess when Bluey left. Like it or not, a large part of that goes back to him.

In that case, we are in massive trouble with Woosha as coach.

Play hard, party hard?
I couldn't believe it when the suns sacked him

Why are you only focusing on the drugs and ignoring on the complete lack of discipline and clear examples of double standards? Those are things the coach is directly accountable for.

How much of that will he be responsible for as a line coach?
