This poster had him ranked around the 45-50 mark in last years draft rankings

He went at pick 44 in this phantom on the Essendon board:

Newton is the apple in McQualter’s eye.
He likes to stay stationary when stationary and when moving he will keep moving with the same velocity unless acted upon by an external force opposition player. He will show more force once he gains more mass. Hopefully he will have an equal and opposite reaction to every opposition goal.
Newton’s rate of change in attitude has been remarkable and he differentiates from the other WAFL players. His selection is a derivative of hard work he put in since drafted in the MSD. Newton does not seem to go off on a tangent and could be integral to the forward line. There are so many variables but Newton to soar defying gravity in AFL debut.

Persist. Not sure he’s a small forward, I think he’s a mid who will likely never be big enough to play the position, but when a guy has it on a list so devoid of guys who have it…just sign him up.

IMO he is a keeper.

Clarke Kent don't mess this up.

Definitely has it - composure, quick decision making, clean hands. Shit that should be a minimum requirement to play AFL but unfortunately lacking in so many of our players.

Will be super frustrating if we don’t offer him a contract
He seems very competitive, which is one thing Mini seems to love.

Would see him as a Lachie Schulze type operator - if he can match Lachie’s spunk and hard work, he has a future

How old is he? Was he eligible for last years draft? If so he’s essentially a first year player

Yeah, went undrafted last year as he had an injury. He's 19, I think.
