Thought he was ok against Sweet …….didn’t look like he was out muscled/bodied in any way. But geez he moves well for a 200+ player!
His statts from today 8 hit outs, 5 marks and a goal.

The thing I liked about his marks was they were around the ground today. Well appeared to be …. to the naked eye.

Was good to see him get rewarded for having his arms chopped, as his leap combined with his height up forward is going to make him very dangerous.

Thought he got killed in the ruck (centre bounces in particular) today. Love his work around the ground and looks dangerous as a tall mobile forward.

No! Ramsden broke even with Sweet in the ruck centre bounces after Sweet killed Kosi there.
Ramsden then went forward in the third quarter to kick two goals and turn the game.
He will be a star in a couple of years.

Big fan of Max but not keen on his ruckwork. Sweet 44 hit outs to Max 8 and Kosi 9. Thought Sweet jumped all over him at centre bounces.

25 year old fully developed ruck with 8 years in the system vs 20 year old with one pre season under his belt. Sweet was well held early then just started using his considerable mass to push our rucks out of the contest. In a few years ramsden will be a weapon around the ground.

Dylan Moore earlier in the year in a podcast said Ramsden was the youngster on our list that hadnt made it yet he was most excited about. Tend to agree.

Yet we halved the clearances. Sweet destroyed us last time. This time he was good but not very influential by comparison.

I thought Sweet was dominating at the start of the 3rd and footscray started kicking goals. It was PTSD from a couple of weeks ago. Ramma came into the ruck for kosi and we won the next few center clearances. With it we were able to hit the scoreboard and change the momentum of the game to lead at 3qtr time

Yup.

The most exciting game I have seen from Rama. Great test next week as Moyle is also a match winner.
Rama will be a player forward that we need. It will take time, just like if we draft a KPF or KPD this year.

He continues to be an exciting prospect. They don’t come along at 203cm very often, particularly those with the game changing ability and athleticism.

Loved how he put in 10kgs in his first pre-season. Think he will continue to put on strength rapidly, meaning another pre-season and he might not be too far away from our playing as our starting forward/ruck.

He got beaten by sweet - but him and Kosi did enough to nullify him to allow us to break even in the midfield.

He’s far from the finished product but the great thing is his appetite for the contest - he cracked in all day.

Feel like he stalled a bit this year - but games like yesterday remind you of his upside - a 200cm+ athletic freak with genuine appetite for contest and work their + handy skills. One to watch after another preseason or two.

Serious question ... is Ramma really an athletic freak? Seems to run out of gas at AFL level & still looks a little awkward when watching him live. I appreciate he's young, but what's so freakish about him?

Comes from his time trial results. Low 6 minutes, second only to Weddell at the Hawks, which is impressive for a 203 cm kid. Whether he can maintain that stamina as he packs on the required kgs to play KPF at the AFL is probably a question but other followers here might be better placed to answer that.

It's an interesting point about the importance of being able to maintain a running capacity at a higher weight.

It actually separates the truely elite players from the rest to some degree when you think about 90kg+ midfield bulls like Degoey, Petracca and Newk who are as strong as an ox yet can cover the kms.

Or a KPF ike Mitch Lewis who is a massive unit but also covers crazy amounts of kms in a game.

Anyone can slim off the kgs to be a good runner just as anyone can pack on the kgs to bulk up but the real trick is to be able to bulk up at the same time as improving your aerobic capacity.
