And 2015 and 2018 and 2021…you see a pattern? Every 3 years the players get sick of the coach and the club sacks the coach…except this time. Well done Graham Wright!!!
Sometimes it takes a new Sheriff in town who fears no one to break a cycle. Cook and Wright are those sheriffs.

Ok ill get sucked in.

What if we stuck by Ratts and helped him. He had definetly had flaws (no plan b) but he also had us playing an exciting brand and the players were united. Perhaps a better support cast was needed. Sacking him didn't deliver the result we wanted, so those who say it was the right move have no more proof than me when I say keeping him would have been better.

Lets see how the Voss thing turns out. And what help we give him.

We would’ve been competing with Hawthorn for flags if we kept Ratts and worked with him on his deficiencies.

Judd, Murphy, Kreuzer, Gibbs, Walker, Scotland, M Robinson, Garlett, Betts, Yarran, Jamieson, Touhey, Simpson, Henderson was a bloody good core.

Role/depth players like Armfield, Carrazzo, Rowe, McLean, Warnock, Laidler, Bell stacked up too. Throw Docherty in who came the following year as well.

Malthouse ruined the entire list and any morale or spirit that group had. Dead set disaster.

Add Waite to that list who moved to NMelb to play another 60 games and kick 125 goals. To top it off we received zero compensation.

McLean just about cost us a top 10 pick, so while I admired his read of the game, his legs were shot.

Laidler was meh, well and truly overrated by the a section of the supporter base, and again with shot legs/knees.

Warnock was a silly move that cost us some strong draft picks given we already had Kreuzer, Jacobs, Hampson, Waite, and Fevola.

Not sure when re-visiting players ability or contribution to list depth, that what they cost should be taken into consideration? It's completely meaningless in a discussion like this.

It's a critical element of list management, something Ratten had a big say in when it came to McLean and Warnock.

Hi Rustica,

I hope you are well and having a good week.

I wanted to provide you with an important football update, with our club pleased to announce today the appointment of Chris Davies as our new General Manager of Football.

One of the most highly credentialled football GMs in the AFL, Chris arrives with more than a decade of experience to lead our football department into its next phase.

Chris is widely-respected throughout the football industry and will depart Alberton after 11 years in charge as General Manager of Football at Port Adelaide – during which time he established a strong football program that has played in three of the last five AFL Preliminary finals.

For our club to attract a person of Chris’ calibre, knowledge, and expertise, who is widely respected across the entire AFL industry, is a huge show of confidence in the direction we want to take our football department moving forward.

Chris’ standing in the industry is as high as any football administrator, with a proven ability to lead football excellence throughout his career. We are confident his guidance will contribute strongly to creating a successful environment at our club.

Chris is also a Carlton person at heart, growing up with a deep love for the football club, and in all my conversations with him it was clear that he understands the responsibility that comes with representing our monogram and the pride we want to bring to our people.

We look forward to welcoming Chris, his wife Simone, and kids Chloe and Owen to the Carlton family.

In addition to Chris’ appointment, I wanted to take this opportunity with you to reinforce the mindset our football club is taking heading into this AFL off-season.

To put it simply – Carlton comes first.

The monogram on the front is what matters to us and with a Carlton-first mindset, that will ensure that every single decision is centred around what is best for the Carlton Football Club
.

And finally, before I sign off, a special mention to our AFLW side, led by Mathew Buck and Abbie McKay, for what has been a strong start to the season, winning two of our first three, including a fantastic win on Sunday over a strong Brisbane side on their own deck.

The bold and brave manner in which this side is going about its football has been outstanding to watch.

So if you can, I encourage you to come home to IKON Park this Saturday at 3pm as we take on the Bulldogs. To see our Carlton family come together in strong numbers will make for a great afternoon and I hope to meet as many of you there as I can.

Have a great rest of the week and we will continue to keep you updated where we can, to make sure you stay informed about your football club.

Thank you and Go Blues,

Thank you and Go Blues,
Gave Charlie a whack in his email 😂

The email just dropped from GW.

Chris Davies is our man. Bonus from the email:

Chris is also a Carlton person at heart, growing up with a deep love for the football club, and in all my conversations with him it was clear that he understands the responsibility that comes with representing our monogram and the pride we want to bring to our people.

Chants: one of us. one of us.

Second nice bit from the email for those non-members - a real middle finger to JSOS in a way and Charlie if its all true... I've been waiting for the club to have this mindset for a lifetime.

In addition to Chris’ appointment, I wanted to take this opportunity with you to reinforce the mindset our football club is taking heading into this AFL off-season.

Great work, GW! The first domino has fallen.

Graham Wright is not going to mention any players on an email about appointing a new footy manager. He simply said all decisions are going to be in the best interests of the footy club. Could also be taken that if a player wants to leave, if we need them then no deal as they have contracts.

Dont read things to suit a narrative.
