It would be great to identify some talent in this region. But its a two way street, lets hope the club does some good in the area and improves the lives of young kids aspiring to better lives and opportunities by identifying pathways to personal advancement.
There are a few a Longs around the Barkly, same blood as Michael. Also some Clarke blood, same as Xavier and Raph.

We should all chip in and buy pieeyeinthesky a collingwood jumper or a flight to the MCG to watch the pies on Anzac day for all the great information :) #helpTHEconversion

I really hope we take the approach of what can we do for this area, not what it can do for us. Much as I love on field success it would be great to see Collingwood be the the best team in terms of supporting its area, not necessarily the best team in syphoning off talent.

Shiels been to Tennant Creek a couple of times, has replies there.

Ah, so you're in a community then?

What do you think are some practical things Collingwood could do?

For example, if they held their off season training camp in Barkly, would that work? Spend a few days in Tennant Creek, then do day trips out to a few communities? Get around and meet the locals? Run a few clinics? Spend a night having dinner with the local polies and townsfolk? I'd love to see CFC media put together a video "What happened when Dane met Dane" :p

Do you think that would work?

Be good to have an off season training camp up here. There is so much that could happen out here. Financial support would be good. A strategic plan would be good. A regional club identity would be good, need to get kids aspiring to represent the region. There is a 12 and under School Sport NT C'ships coming up but the cost per player is quoted at approx $450 per child. For a team of 20, that's $9000 for a 3 day carnival and half a day of travel either side. This carnival gives kids their first taste of rep footy. At the moment it looks like not going ahead because of the cost. It's a pity because there is some real talent in this age group.

That could be something good for the Club to do as we then can see the Kids up there and who has Potential of Possibly playing in the AFL

it would be good, these kids are 11 which I understand to be about the bottom age for the next generation academies.

You should pitch it to the club!
Get magpiegirl on to it, she is a professional organiser.
