A fantastic career from a fantastic servant... enjoy tomorrow, and as bitter as the pill that is Saturday may be to swallow, you've been a fantastic competitor and shall be forever immortalised in the memories of the Collingwood faithful.

Thanks for the efforts.

Some time early next week I will post my player by player review here.

You will be happy to know I have made a very positive mention about your man.

Had him at no.26 on my list (1 ahead of Medhurst). Heres a sneak peak:
"Was more than serviceable this season and I credit the way he really stuck it out till the end. Showed great character! Never dropped his head and really gave it all even when other, younger kids were getting opportunities to play ahead of the long time Collingwood star. Not as fast as he used to be but still at worst a handy backup who you know you can rely on"

Cobgratulations Tarkyn Lockyer, a true magpie, who could have gone home to WA on several occasions but chose to stay.

The way he fought back from his terrible knee injury to reclaim his place in the side for the last few finals series was the stuff of legend.

This is just another reason why I believe every player who plays at least one senior game for the premier should get a premiership medallion, just like in most other sports in the world.

Gratz Tarks, I hope you enjoy the day, even if you aren't on the field.

Congrats on a great career Tarks, you have been such a faithful servant of the club and I hope you can enjoy the week and know you have been a strong part of this club's success.

Couldn't have said it better. Always gave 100%, fantastic leader, always reliable kick for goal.

Of all the players who will miss the granny you gotta feel the most for this guy. The consumate professional and a real leader of the club. If anyone deserves a last shot at glory it is him, but there is no room for sentimentality unfortunately.

thank you Tarks - judging by the sentiment on this thread you have our admiration as a player but more importantly our respect as a human being.

I love Tarks, such a great bloke. I think even he knows he isnt in our best 22 atm and he will be happy just for his mates to experience a premiership. Everyone reaches the end of their career and Tarkyn has done that this year which is sad but I wish him all the best in the future and thank him for his services. His passion, love and commitment to the Collingwood football club will ensure he will always be loved by the Collingwood faithful. True Collingwood man.:thumbsu:

All great careers have to come to an end, and Tarks has. He has contributed so much to the club and shall be remembered as a servant and leader of the Collingwood Football Club through his years. He amplifies all the traits of the Collingwood Football Club such as courage, leadership, friendship and perseverance. I hope he can continue with Collingwood in a coaching role and help our young players develop even further.

Great man and I wish him the best and hope he keeps his head high as he watches on in GF. I just wish he could of got a Premiership Medallion.

Agree 100% with each of these comments. Loved the guy when he was a kid, was devo when he got injured, just when he looked to have the footy world at his feet, and have enjoyed this second half of his career immensely. Well played, and will be there in spirit on the field on Saturday.

one more year on minimum wage to captain the twos. Then make him one of our three compulsory changes for next year.

If he plays next season, it won't be minimum wage. Waste of a veterans spot if he is.

apart from he and presti I think only Fraser qualifies for it and there is no guarantee that any of those three will be at the club next year. Leon and Johnno might qualify too. Put them on instead of Tarks

I don't think Tarks will play on next year, wouldn't be surprised if he and Presti announce thier reitrements after the GF.

Hopefully one or both can be retained at the club in some capacity.

What a great player!
All ways put in a consistent effort even when we were down. The medallion thing sux if a player contributes to getting his team to the finals why should they not be entitled to a medal, they are a part of the team!
