In the article, Miller states they are looking for an "assistant" to Francis Jackson.

Can't see Clayton agreeing to be an assistant. He'd want to be the main man in the Recruiting Dept I reckon.

It will be setup this way EG:
Jackson to look after the eastern seaboard[Tas,NSW,QLD]
Clayton to look after the western seaboard[SA & WA]
With both to share duties in Vic
Much of a muchness really.

How long has he had the job at the Doggies? Their recruiting over the past six or seven years makes ours look like pure genius.

while its true we did experience a 'richmond-style' collapse this season, to say 'disintergrating' because we lost macmahon and some staff is a bit much.

you wont get clayton, he is committed to the dogs. he knocked collingwood back so I dont see why he would take you guys on for an inferior positionand less money that what the pies would have thrown at him.

You must be kidding - Clayton is a total muppet. Their recruiting and especially trading in his tenure has been the worst in the comp by some margin.

First post after being banned from Carlton for heaven knows how long and BF for a week. Might have been the question about which number to give Judd that out them over the edge, but sheeesh they're a rank mob.

His recruitment of talls has been fairly abysmal with the exception of Harris and perhaps Everitt (rate him as more of a wingman). But in terms of short blokes who can kick he's been fairly good. I rate him highly and any addition to our recruiting team should be welcomed considering how little we have spent on it for far too long.

No. It says "someone to assist him", not an assistant.

I have certainly worked at places where the workload is high and they bring in help in the form of a more senior person (eg Project Manager) to assist the team.

im not too sure but was he at brisbane at one stage?

Recruited from Hobart to Fitzroy. Played as a tagger played 160 games between 81 and 90. Won a B+F.

Brisbane - 1991-1998
Bullodgs - 1999-2007

At Brisbane he had a few different jobs in the admin including Footy Manager and Recruiting Manager. Fair to say he played a part in getting the 2001-03 teams together.

The 'problem' is that Voss, Akermanis, White were zone selections. Johnson a Roys merger selection. Lynch, B.Scott were trades. Hart and Ashcroft were already there. Brown, Hadley, Charman, Michael, McLaren, Copeland, A.McGrath, Hadley, Charman, Caracella, Pike, all came later.

His contribution (to the 4 GF sides) in 8 years was Leppitsch, C.Scott, McRae, Notting, Power, Black, Headland, Shattock, McDonald, Bradshaw. Keating.

At the Dogs ... Murphy, Giansiracusa, Hahn, Gilbee, McMahon, Cross, Harris, Cooney, Griffin.

If you look at the 1999 draft he did superbly. But since then not much other than the gimmes in Cooney and Griffen. In some ways he is the polar opposite of Beck, Miller and Jackson. He gets the first picks correct and not much else, they get value late.

1999
Murphy, Giansiracusa, Hahn, Gilbee, P.Wiggins, P.Bowden, Hargrave
2000
McMahon, Birss, Cross, Skipper
2001
Power, McGuiness, Colbert, Harris, A.James
2002
Walsh, Faulkner, Minson, B.Murphy, S.Bassett, Wight
2003
Cooney, Ray, Thompson
2004
Griffin, Williams, Wells, McCormack, Tiller
2005
Higgins, Addison, Baird, Montgomery, M.West
2006
Everitt, Stack, Hill, Lynch, O'Shea

I think it is 100% essentiel that Richmond get a recruiter in the west to stop the talent being monopolised by West Coast and Freo and according to a new article Collingwood and Hawthorn

I think you have to add Hargrave and Cross as good gets, and although it's early days, Everrit seems very classy too.

cross and hargrave, yes no doubt.

ray, minson and williams will all be players, possibly very good players.

everit has already proved to be an inspired pick. how many talls aquit themselves so well in their first year, let alone those selected at 10+ and being the 2nd youngest player drafted that year?

would like to see a tigers roadmap done in a similar fashion.

Think we've innovertly stumbled on the joke board:eek:They had 2 chances to recruit Franklin and passed him up for Tambling:D:D

Exactly what word is that supposed to be? The only joke here is your tenuous grasp of the english language.

This is the most idiotic thing written here. Do you follow the game? Griffen spent most of the season injured. This board is plain awful:thumbsd:
Griffen went backwards this season. Played some very ordinary football in between being injured. Plain and simple.
Connors>>>>>>>>Griffen

Tom Williams over Jordyn Lewis. bwahahahahahahaha

We could do alot worse than Scott clayton. He's a good operator.Hopefully this comes about.

Recruiting seems to me the once place we could really make a meaningful improvement, and bridge the ever widening gap between us and the Collingwood/Essendons of the competition.

We seriously need to get more proffessional in this area.
