I assume you are talking about Malik Rose. But why didn't the Spurs call a Timeout to get him off the court?

That was a farce.

the knock was accidental,i dont think stepping on him was

Enter multiple expletives here.

I mean, when a man...let's say, Kevin Willis is on fire and leading the team YOU LEAVE HIM ON THE COURT. I don't care if he's 76 years old - he was playing some great basketball.

Timmy: he played great, but c'mon. You are the MVP - Hit the friggen' FT's.

Fouls killed us. We must not get in foul trouble early. Especially with our big guys.

I'm bloody disappointed. We SHOULD have taken that game.

This just makes things that much harder for us.
We have to play the game at our pace.

Jeez...

Malik.

Malik Rose has been cleared to play in Game 2. Thank god for that. We need him to bring some damn energy.
He'll train tomorrow, apparently.

72 fouls for the game :o
Proof how important it is to hit FTs
Mavs 49-50
Spurs 31-48
We talked about this in the first round. SA will want to work on at least making 75% considering how many times they go to the line. Dallas is doing a good job for a team that wasn`t meant to get out of the first round according to a lot of judges. A lot of offensive weapons. I think SA has to slow the game down to frustrate Dallas and get the scores as far below 100 as possible. If the scores remain high, Dallas will win the series.

Popovich made mention how small weaknesses in a game become magnified exponentially come playoff time. Phoenix exploited SA's weak FT%, and the Mavs did it today.

I agree Dingster, the Mavs need to score heavilly to win. They admit they aren't a good defensive team (hard to deny really) but think that if they play good defense some of the time (:o) they can get by on their offense. If Dallas keep their scores over 100, the Spurs will have alot difficulty with them

The Spurs main problem is closing games out. They are useless at it. They got outscored something like 30-19 in the last quarter, they are nortorious for playing really well for 3 quarters and then folding like a bad hand of cards come the fourth?

Not sure what was wrong with the Spurs sending the Mavs (best FT% team in the league) to the line 50 times!!!

If they dont get game 2, it's over.

Could the Mavs really win it all? A team that soft winning a title...unheard of really.

Yeah. They got us good.

Screwed by the refs! But the Spurs played well.

going to be fun now.

Phew! Needed that.

Malik my boy coming back from concussion, stayed out of foul trouble and took a more agressive role in the game. Great performance and took abit of heat off Duncan. Great game.

Tony played, well, and Jackson and Manu played well in spurts.

Timmy D - I know his stats probably weren't as impressive, but he played a much better game than the other day and put in more work on both ends of the floor.

The tech fouls were amusing actually. :D I thought AJ might get a gig if a few more guys got kicked out.

Overall, we are right back in it. We had a lead of about 24 and we let it dwindle down to 9 or so, which is a tad worrying, but we came out of it alive.

Ready for game 3.

An entertaining game. Nelson got thrown out probably on purpose to try to spark his team. That didnt work so Del Harris ejected himself and finally that seemed to work. Dallas played better after that but just couldnt get over the hump. A few times they got it to around 8 or 9 points and were only a big three from pushing the Spurs over but credit to San Antonio, they held on for a good win.

The Mavericks are an amazing team to watch. You would think a 28 points lead is safe against any team in the NBA...but no lead appears safe against the Mavericks. Looking forward to game 3.

Spurs win big in Dallas96-83 .Timmy Duncan dominated getting 34 points,24 boards,6 blocks,6 assists and 2 steals.Tony Parker played well too with 29pts,8 boards and 3 assists.

Dirk seems to have done a knee injury, not many details yet, didnt affect outcome though, happened in last quarter when game was over.Great win for Spurs though, sends a clear message to the Nets who have been beating their drum a bit lately

I dont mean to harp on it either but is there any doubt who is the best player in basketball at the moment????

For the last -3 odd years my dumb kobe loving mate has put Tim down,So it is great seeing him eat some humble pie. After a slow start he has dominated the last 2 weeks of the play-offs.If he can get his free-throws back to 80% he will be unstopable.

You beauty

We NEEDED to win at least one game on the road, and we've done extremely well to win the first one.

What really warms my heart is that Timmy is taking the game on his shoulders and came through.

Tony Parker - what a gun. People were writing him off in the Suns series but he's right back on track now.

Regards to Dirk:
"The news is not good," Dallas Mavericks head coach Don Nelson said. "His knee is very sore. I don't expect he'll play and I'm not sure if he'll play in this series. We should not take a gamble or a chance on Dirk Nowitzki. I told Dirk he must feel he's totally 100 percent for me to play him again this series."

Gotta go out, but I'll write more later.

Signing off, a very happy mattyc. Spurs win. Storm win. Box Hill win.

Monday, Tuesday Happy Days.....

Love this quote from Timmy

“It sucks that Dirk went down tonight,” Duncan said. “You hate to see guys get injured. You want to come in here and play a game all the way through and everybody stay healthy.”

Id love to see Dirk play myself.so Tim can hand him his head
:D

Nah seriously this play-off series has seen the emergence of Dirk. Will be a serious contender for MVP next year

Shame about Dirk. I do enjoy watching him step out and shoot the spot up 3, except against us.
What intruiges me, is that Bradley and LaFrentz will probably start, fair enough - but who do the Mavs have that can play spot minutes? Najera is good, but The Wizard will struggle defending our big guys, and Eschmeyer...well....

Disappointing loss for Dallas....was it just me or was it not shown on ESPN earlier today?? I thought every game of the Eastern and Western Conference Finals was going to be shown???

Anyway the Spurs were just too good...or should I say Tim Duncan was just too good. Parker though went crazy in the third quarter and sparked the Spurs. With Nowitzki going down and possibly his series over, the Spurs should walk into the NBA Finals. Disappointing, first we were robbed of C-Webb and now it looks like we will miss Nowitzki too.

Ah well, I think whoever wins the Spurs, Mavs series will have their work cut out for them against the Nets. Someone said that win was a message to the Nets...how about 3-0! That in itself is a message.

Yeah, it`s disappointing for injuries to have such an affect on the playoffs. The Spurs and the Nets are a lock now. Lets hope both teams stay healthy and have a close series. I like both teams, but the DRob factor will have me supporting the Spurs.

Dirk's knee injury is not too bad.

"An MRI showed a sprain to the ligaments that hold the left kneecap in place, but there was no other structural damage, the Mavericks said. "

A MRI performed on Shawn Bradley's right knee showed a sprained medial collateral ligament, and the Mavs said he would be out indefinitely. Also, third-string center Evan Eschmeyer said a loose piece of cartilage in his left knee will likely prevent him from playing in the postseason.

Spurs go up 3-1 with a second away win in Dallas!

Ginobli had a season high 23 points, Duncan pulled down a heap of rebounds and the Mavericks missed Nowitski.

Big effort (read impossible) for the Mavericks to get back into this series.

Notice that 3/4 of the way through the second quarter the Mavericks had not been sent to the line once whilst the Spurs had made 15/17 free throws. Don't know if that's some kind of record, going almost two quarters without one free throw...

Looks like Spurs-Nets...

David Robinson should be suspended for game 5 for leaving the bench when Raef Lafrentz and Malik Rose had a minor altercation. But you know that won't happen, heaven forbid David Stern suspend the golden boy in his last playoff run. If the NBA has any balls at all it should take action. 97/98 we had 6 Knicks players do the same thing, walked a few feet from the bench onto the court and every one of them were suspended for a game. Three missed game 6 and the other 3 missed game 7. Why should Robinson be treated any differently.

He only made it about 1ft from his seat he didn't even touch the court a suspension would be ridiculous.
