Lewis Johnston has had a tough break for a couple of years being injured and trying to find consistency and Sam Reid has moved in front of him imo.

I am a fan of his but I think his time is running out and 2012 may be his crunch year. And i would hate to see what happened to Daniel O'Keefe, happen to him as they were both first rounders.

Does anyone know his current status in the team and how the coaches view him? Also what are your thoughts?
 
A few months ago he resigned for 2 years, so I'm sure the coaches hold a high opinion of him. Has a beautiful kick, something nearly everyone else on our list lacks. Thought he was great against Collingwood in his second game (apart from that mistake which prob cost us the game :))

Injuries permitting he'll be a regular fixture in our team next year.
 
As long as they don't play him in defence, i would much prefer LJ in the team than White. But i realise White is the second ruck so it would upset structures if LRT etc would have to ruck.

I'm surprised to see his name come up in an article today as a potential trade. Others have criticised the article and hopefully there's no weight to the speculation.

Not really. He re-signed with us this season for another two years only a couple of months ago. He has injury interrupted pre-seasons in past whilst this season he had a few niggles throughout.

Very obviously talented particularly by foot. I would say he is in this article because journalists are lazy and it is easy to find a couple of players that haven't had a lot of gametime or have had question marks over them. Meaningless really.

FWIW, both Jesse White and Mark Seaby (who are also on that list) have a year to run on their respective contracts.
 
Play Johnston at ff for 6 weeks without the fear of being dropped and then we'll see exactly where he is. I reckon he and reid are our future forward set up
 
The 2nds facebook page just posted that he is going to the Crows.

I am personally not convinced he'll ever be big enough for a FF. I have liked him down back, has supreme kicking ability. Hope he stays.

I think he is a fine size for a Full Forward, I don't really like a 196cm+ Full Forward. He is 193cm or there abouts, Lockett and Bradshaw were only 191cm etc. Let him get some beach muscles and I think he'll fit in fine.

Would be a great forward flanker for the Crows. Logical replacement for Jack Gunston.
 
Call it a bro-mance but i cant believe this. If they go through with this i will be rightly pissed. I dont think he has a problem with being in Sydney and would have probably had the step up next year. The other SA (B.S) player basically doesnt want to be here at all so why not get rid of him back.

Im so utterly upset about this and i hope it's not going forward. I hope that its just a false testing and we say no hes not going to you guys at the last minute and it was all just as a " gee up " and they get something else.

Also he was contracted so that is bollocks. Oh and as much as i would like to have Tom Walsh at Sydney i hope he doesnt get here just so L.J can stay on with us as i think thats what Sydney are going for.

How many half back flankers do we need. Swapping LJ for another HBF would be something stupid that we would do. I'm afraid we'll do it and lose a possible KPP for 10 years. The Crows must be LOL at our stupidity.

Why would they want to offer L.J to go back home instead of Sumner who had missed the whole second half of the year because he wants to be back in adelaide. also our lack of tall forwards is already blatantly obvious and we might trade a TF for a half back which we already have Malceski, Shaw and (to an extent) Mattner for; as well as Campbell Heath and maybe Brett Meredith who could also play that role.

There are two parties in trade negotiations, Sumner has been mentioned, and Adelaide are not interested.

Malceski has just had his 3rd knee reco, he is 28 next year.
Shaw is 30 tomorrow.
Mattner is 30 next year.
Campbell Heath has had injury interrupted seasons and is no guarantee.
Meredith is yet to display the consistency for AFL football.

Hasn't been part of our 'blossoming' team in the last two years. That he's had that foot injury isn't necessarily an excuse for him. Perhaps it's not a good injury to have had for his long term career. He hasn't set the world on fire otherwise by now he will be playing regular senior footy. (Refer to Sam Reid & Alex Johnson).

The coaching staff know what they are after & if LJ plays another year in the twos, then his value deteriorates for this time next year. (Refer to Jesse White & Seaby). To get something decent you need to offer something decent. It's either White or LJ we persist with.

It's quite obvious now that we want hard working players to make up our team. Walsh oozes hard work. I like him!
But don't be surprised if we pull something else out of the bag here.
I'm guessing with the Saints being in a little trouble with the cap, that we're getting someone else other than Walsh!
Just a hunch.

I'll back our recruiting guys everyday of the week with their recruiting because it is second to none over the last 8 years considering we've not had the luxury of quality draft picks.
Let them do their job & improve our list with players that want to be at the Swans, that can & will play senior football!
 
Geez i would love to have t walsh at the swans, there are very big wraps on him as a key forward, still needs to develop a "feel" for the game but the swannies have proven with tadgh and pyke that we can develop that talent, also think farren ray would be good as a quick outside player to compliment kennedy, bolts, hanners, parker etc. while i like the prospect of L johnson this duo would more then make up for his loss!
 
Guys Emma Quayle is suggesting he never fit and there were behind the scene issues, any info would be appreciated.
