Just finished Life of Brian.

Can't say I enjoyed it as much as the Holy Grail though. Don't get me wrong - was a very good comedy and at one point, actually had me crying with laughter (call me immature, but the Bigus Dickus was just too damn funny).

However, I thought there were some dull parts throughout. After the stoning scene up until the Bigus scene, I was sitting there waiting for a laugh. The graffiti scene was mildly amusing, but beyond that, not too much to laugh at. Granted I found a lot of the early dialogue difficult to understand.

After watching it, clearly there's an agenda to the movie as opposed to just mindless laughter. Most of it went over my head early as it wasn't what I was expecting, but the movie definitely warrants a second viewing to pick up on some of the subtler points of both comedy (as most good comedy films do) and meaning.

Most people find LOB not as good as HG on the first viewing. It's not unusual.

Ordered the Seven Samurai over a week ago from Bigpond Movies - still waiting for it to show up.

And finally it's arrived. :)

I've heard great things about this film (as you'd expect from a movie ranked 13th on IMDB). The black and white is a bit of a turn off, but I'm sure I'll forget it all once I'm immersed in the movie.

Watched 'Paycheck' last night.

I'm not sure how so many decent actors (Eckhart, Giamatti, Thurman and Michael C. Hall) got roped into doing this pile of shit.

Miller's Crossing. ****ing genius.

Albert Finney smoking a cigar and listening to Danny Boy going ape shit with a Thompson Sub-Machine Gun is kick arse. John Turturro is amazing.

Fantastic film.

I'm into "Satisfaction" in a mega way now. Discovered it (yeah yeah I'm behind the time but) last year, caught Season 1 and now roll on Season 2. Was spewing last Tuesday when due to mini cyclone, well a really bad storm. POWER BLACK OUT...lucky caught it on replay on Sunday.

For a 50+ year movie, I was pleasantly surprised, though it did drag on, particularly at 1am when I had to be up at 7:30 the next day. I thought the characters were built up excellently and really enjoyed the first two thirds of the film, though the battle scenes left a bit to be desired, particularly by today's standards.

Unfortunately, I decided to have a look at the theatrical trailer before watching the movie. I was dismayed when the trailer gave away the ending of the film
saying that 4 of the 7 samurai are killed but the village is saved.

Sitting there, knowing the outcome definitely detracted from the experience for mine. :thumbsd:
