What are your worst fears?

Drowning or buried alive
Not good with confined spaces or a possibility of being trapped
Heights - would be fine skydiving or as long as there is some form of stability. Hate ladders.

I fear the unknown and not being in control (under GA/death/free falling). Freaks me out. Spiders and snakes give me constant night mares. I am scared of heights and anything on my face, but they aren't 'fears' as such, just scared/hate them with a passion.

For those with a fear of heights I have a question.

Do you just have a fear of being elevated above your general surroundings or is it a fear of falling?

I.e. If you are sitting at the carpark at the Mt Dandenong observatory looking out at the Eastern suburbs/CBD ~2500 feet below you do you freak out? What about inside the top floor of one of the buildings in the city?

Or is it only when you are near a precipice with nothing between you and it?

It's about looking directly down. Looking out over things is fine.

It's a bit hard to explain. It's not so much a conscious "oh my god I'm going to fall" as it is just a general feeling of extreme insecurity. I don't like standing right up against a floor-to-ceiling window in a tall building, even though I objectively know there is no danger whatsoever.

I see. What is the minimum height for you? Would standing on a stool do it?

My dad (6'4") used to carry me around on his shoulders when I was a baby so I think that's contributed to my lack of a fear of heights.

It's fear of heights, not fear of stools. I am not sure what height it starts at, I have never really thought about it.

I was carried around as a kid as well. It's not a major thing. But I think some degree of fear of heights is fairly natural.

Jeez calm down. I'm just curious.

I get a bit iffy on the highest steps of a ladder. Hate heights with no boundaries. Scares the absolute shit out of me. If there is a barrier I am fine.

Whoever said dieing alone, I completely agree.
