I love the expressions on Scotty's face when we get a bad decision. This is classic stuff.

Nice, Although I wonder whether all the rhetoric will now be that we are building for a premiership in 2017. :p
I hope not :p I think they'd be well aware that both the Dees and Lions will have a red hot crack at him soon. A few other clubs would be considering him too. Lots of average coaches out there. Tigers, Pies, West Coast, GCFC, GWS, Dees, and Lions...

He comes across as "one of us" when you talk to him. He actually apologized to me for not "ending the year as planned" when I met him at the 2013 vfl gf. Top bloke. He was also very good with my 4 year old about signing his jumper because "Mum says you shouldn't draw on clothes...." Tough one to explain.

He didn't re-invent the wheel. If it ain't broke, don't overhaul it. He made minor changes to Bomber's gameplan (more kicking rather than handballing) and won us a flag in our first season.

FYI - if you read Scarlo's autobiography you'll know that the game plan that won us the flag in 2011 was being worked on during the 2010 season, but the players decided not to go with it because they didn't think they had it down enough. They were worried they'd just revert to the old one. Something that frustrated the crap out of Bomber Thompson who wanted the change in 2010. So CS can't really be given credit for it.

But I think he's best skill is his man management skills, everyone at the club really respects him and likes him. I think he has brought us the variations of the "Geelong Highway" we've seen over the last few years, and stoppage set ups are his. He has done a reasonable job of turning our inability to win clearances into something we can survive by forcing the turnovers at HB.

I like how when he came into the club the era of "Bombers Favourites" was over, and everyone was put on notice that they had to earn their spots. Veterans and juniors alike. The work of player development at Geelong began long before CS arrived too, but I do think he's managed the retirements and transitions well.

He has made mistakes, and I'm not going to list them all. His match day coaching has improved over the journey as well.

He is articulate.
Damning with faint praise there Sttew. Not intentionally I'm sure. Presents well. Organises well. Gets on well with the players and staff. Knows the game. Rarely gets flustered. Loves and is committed to the club. Just an outsiders take.

I agree, rabbi ;) I thought the video clips of him in the coaches' box that the club showed at the Carji last season were hilarious :D

That was awesome T-cat, so many things I love about Scotty have already been said but here goes..

He's been a player (and b&f) in a successful team, so knows exactly what it takes, he's smart and articulate, is gracious in both win & defeat, has a vision & not afraid to stick to it regardless of the criticism and not that this makes any diff but yet to see him cause damage that would actually need a tradie no matter how badly we (Cats) were going..

You have to love him.

You have to love him.

I do, I do.

I've liked pretty much every coach we've had, except for mullet head. I think it's a sign of a good club, not going thru a lot of coaches- I've seen like.... 4? In 20 years....?
