I'm not certain what would be considered normal and/or extra cirriculum training and skills programs for players would be, but does anyone know what the club actually has in place for our team?
I hear that West Coast do a grappling program, which isn't that uncommon these days. I understand that it is specifically tailored to AFL and includes a ball in the program. I'm exclusively talking about grapple tackles here or the chicken wing tackle, but there are many techniques that can be very slight that could assist in the fast paced modern AFL. We certainly wouldn't want West Coast to gain an edge over us and smarten up a bit when we have got the wood over them now, or any side for that matter.
Now having been a student of grappling for some years now, I can tell you, it is very effective in negating the movement of your opponent with simple technques with not too much strenght involved?
I'm not just curious about takling as well, but any programs they run to help get the rookies & established players up to standard to challenge for our maiden flag and beyond.
