Yes we are undermanned I realise that but....
In my opinion I still believe we had the players to cover the loss of Haddrill,Polak and Carr.
McPharlin, Parker, Thornton and even longmuir are enough in my opinion to cover the tigers backline.

So the question is where does the problem lie?
Is it our game plan (Coach)?
Is it our lack of discpline (Coach)?
Is it our forward line (List)?
Is it our midfield (List)?
Is it out depth (List)?

My opinion is at full strength we are a top four side, we have finally got the midfield to run with the best of them. Our backline is one of the strongest and forwad line wise if we could get it working could be potent. Some say we are too reliant on Pavlich, but from what I see we dont kick it to him enough. Murphy just needs to be left to develop and I believe Longmuir needs to be played up forward more often.

So as I see it, it is our game plan. Untill we play accountable football we wont be a force in the afl. Chipping and kicking it sideways isnt getting us anywhere and finishing 6th and below and we have failed again this season.

Possible ways to rectify the situation?
GET AN EXPERIENCED COACH!
Sheedy is out of sorts at Essendon perhaps he is an option?
Or maybe entice another coach out of retirement?

I havent attacked Conolly much this year but I think it is becoming pretty evident that our problem is our coach.

Two things.

1) The coach. Connelly does not know how to coach properly. You watch the games where he goes against a quality coach, such as Sheedy, Malthouse, he ALWAYS gets out coached. He has a great list, its just not being used as it should be.

2) Skills. Time and time again players are missing their targets. They cannot persist with their current gameplan when guys can't take a chest mark. The reason why we looked so strong in the games leading up to this week, was because we had Pav getting the ball bombed long to him. Simply didn't happen this week, and thats why we got a bath.

We have the list, its just we have the second worst coach in the AFL. After our start to the season our membership is capped this year.

Who's the worst?

I dont count the first year coaches at all, way too early.

I would rate maybe grant thomas lower, thats it.....

Not a troll, but something I have noticed while watching the game.

Especially in that third quarter, there are far too many passengers, and too many players who crumble when the pressure is on. Some of Dion Woods' mistakes have been inexcusable, and players such as Schammer and Medhurst have been very soft.

Freo's list is what I rate as one of the best in the league, a solid forward line, a cracker midfield and a strong defence, but there are too many players who are willing to be good average players and not need to make the step up. No second efforts from anyone outside Farmer, Bell and Haselby etc. has cost Freo of what could be a 4 - 0 start to a now 1 - 3 disaster.

Is it our game plan (Coach)?

After 5years wuth Frawley I feel qualified to answer this qiestion.
Yes.
Somehow I dont think connelly is anle to judge deciseively in the moment.
Always trying to think 2 steps ahead when realistically the guy struggles with the present conflict.
The players lose confidence in his handling of the game and just give up.

He's gotta go.

Dud.
Sorry.

Maybe if you had have signed him for 5 years like Richmond did with Wallace, he might be decent.

OK, i've calmed down a bit now.

Connolly simply can not coach. Richmond played the superflood, and the players had no idea how to deal with it, even to the extent that they started making little league errors like missing targets 20m away consistently. It's all well and good playing Pavlich at CHF, but no-one can beat 2 on 1. And when he was 1 on 1 with whatever hack Richmond had on him, he looked good, but it was all too rare. I don't know whether it was that his teammates weren't using him, you can't really tell whether he was in a good position or not on TV.

If Johnson and/or Murphy get dropped next week while 211, Woods, Grover or McManus stay then it is confirmed that CC just can't coach.

BTW, you don't reckon shane on dockerhitlerland hasn't got RSI from overuse of his delete key.

Nah, a realist . Most of them looked stuffed before they started.

Completely disagree. If a virus was a huge problem, they wouldn't be able to run and man up. In the first half that wasn't the problem, we had players finding enough space and the running game was going OK, it was purely and simply skill. A virus doesn't mean you miss a target from 20m, or force you to kick to 3 on 1.

Although we are missing 6 players that are in our best 22 we should have won today....maybe not by alot but should have won.

Good post, if some of these players continue to get games and we continue to lose, some one has then lost the plot

I think maybe Schofield might be brought back a bit early

Nah, he'll just be a liability without good match practice. Schammer has showed that in the last couple of weeks, he's been completely useless because he doesn't have the match fitness needed to play at the top level. Not that i'd drop Schammer, but I wouldn't make the same mistake with Schofield.

sorry RIP, but Grovers turnovers must be some record for a game. You cant have a player bouncing of your half back who likes kicking to the opposition. To be honest I was dissapointed in his game

give him 2 games in the WAFL, first one in reserves then with the 1's...... if he plays well in both get him in... When your 1 & 3 you dont have time to rest on your morals

Grover was good I thought. Shammer, Bell , Haze were well of the pace and Heathblack tried hard and got a lot of it but coughed it up too much.

Grover played his standard game. Got enough of the ball to make a contribution, but turned it over and was a liability when Richmond had the ball because he's too soft and doesn't tackle and put his body on the line. Disappointing given he must know he's on his last chance.
Agree about the others though.
