Football is a team game. As such knowing and being able to implement the gameplan is more important than the difference between pick 1 or pick 5. Winning provides positive reinforcement of the plan and self-confidence.

As such we should try to win where we can, including bringing in players as they come back from injury so that they get used to the new game plan.

Playing youth and playing our best available side (considering our injuries at the moment) are not really that far apart.

After the Hawthorn game, I honestly see every single game (especially Rd 9-16) as winnable. That's assuming we start to get our guns back as the year progresses. Obviously we won't win them all, but if we don't win half of them, I will be disappointed.

We're better off trying to win games of football, I don't want to turn into some loser club like Melbourne or St Kilda who take forever to work out how to stop losing. If it means pick #8 instead of pick #1, then so be it. Might even be a blessing if the draft is stacked with mids we can't ignore at the top end.

In many cases, the momentum from the previous game can carry into the next. Using a similar thinking for the season, if we can build up a bit of momentum towards the end of the season this may translate into momentum to start next year.

Lyon is preparing us for 2017 and beyond. They won't deliberately tank and will try and win every game but getting games in to our youngsters plus experimenting with the new game plan is a higher priority than the win/loss record.

I doubt we'll finish bottom but I don't have a problem even if we do. If Alex Pearce, Weller, Hughes, Blakely, Langdon, Tucker and Grey all head in to next season with a heap more AFL experience, and guys like Bennell, Apeness, Yarran settle in, rookies like Smith, Ueber and Nyhuis all push for an upgrade, and the whole team continues to improve executing the new game plan I'll be too excited for next season to worry too much about our 2016 performance.

Club needs to keep playing everyone on the list, refresh the group and then get ready for a launch into next year. The main problem is the backline, its horrible. Thank Goodness we have A.Pearce!!! Club needs to focus on KPP's for the backline as much as the forward line. Giving exposure to everyone on the list is a priority to see what we have. Winning isn't as important, as long as there is effort and improvement that is what we should be measured on. Exciting times and looking forward to a Ross rebuild.

There was an article about McCarthy the other day we said 'Fremantle possess the #1 draft pick' (in relation it could have been GWS's if they had traded McCarthy). This sort of thing is just BS - unless the AFL has introduced the ability to trade or use potential draft picks there is so much to happen before the end of the year and media just as usual making OTT statements to grab attention (good or bad).

Focus on the plan and process. We will win some games and not get the spoon and nor should we be trying. There is no way we will lose to Essendon unless we get more injuries. Finishing 13th or below versus 12th and above is maybe one thing to consider if we get to that stage since that affects the draw for next year considerably.

We finished last year as minor premiers and followed it up this year winning the NAB Challenge, yet from round 1 we're suddenly crap.

It seems a reasonable conclusion to draw.

I have no doubt this is flagged as a development year now, well it is confirmed with Fyfe not coming back and not winning a game yet. Big call to say it is tanking though, we really were shit in the first few rounds.
