The only thing that doesn't add up is that all the WC fans have been telling us that their forward line is sorted without Allen and don't need anything.
Its a weird situation we are in. Do we pick up a random mature aged CHB to fill in for Govs spot until we draft a CHB or do we look to grab a young forward and turn them into a defender with Harry Edwards as the main defender?

I think in the off season we move Archer Reid into defense to replace Gov and look for a new young forward. Harry Edwards becomes the primary defender essentially.

I think its a risk but its one worth taking. Id rather try Archer Reid at CHB then say pick up say Jack Silvagni style 28 year old to play CHB

I'd be doing both. Get a young quality forward like Walter by spending capital or use the appropriate draft pick. I'd also be getting a mature VFL player who has had a great season so you don't have to throw kids to the wolves if they don't work out.

You probably need high end midfield talent with your pick 1 & 2 so drafting a duo like the next Rowell and Anderson should be the goal.

Id be surprised if Max Minear doesnt join our rookie list but he isnt Round 1 material and should exist as a break glass in case of emergency option. Id rather throw someone to the wolves and see if they swim

Not seriously concerned with our tall forward stocks. I don't think your key forward group of Tracy Amiss, Voss would outperform Waterman, Shanahan and A.Reid if swapped out.

That's not a knock against drafting more tall players, just that it's low on the triage list.

He'd be an option.

I know Max Rhor has played ruck forward for Claremont Reserves, but I'd like to see him trialled backward of centre for Claremont.

Jack Steele out of St Kilda

How about a swap of your 3rd rounder for Jacob Blight. He's good enough to play AFL but we prefer others (such as Balta, Young, Gibcus, Gray, Miller). We would then use that pick to match Kellaway.

No chance we would give up a 3rd rounder given we need it for our NGA anyway. I dont think we would have any interest in Blight. Kind of think if we did have interest he would be with us already

Future 3rd, not this year. A 3rd rounder this year has no use to us.

We don't but that doesn't mean when you're faced with Walter for 2 or majority of the open pool of this draft class, that you wouldn't take it. Walter, Shanahan and Waterman as 3 talls would be genuinely elite within a year or two.

Can see ABI Duursma coming to the big smoke and Port crying over the 2x R2's. 2025 R2, 2026 R2 is about right, for small, slowish bloke with questionable skills and hint of a Brain Injury.

I like Curtin and would have preferred we drafted him instead of Sanders, but do you really think it’s on the cards that he’s gong to be a blend of a trio with 4x MVP awards, 14x AAs, 14x B&Fs and over 1100 goals?

Reminds me of the time on here some Melbourne fans were describing Sam Blease as having the best attributes of Jimmy Bartel and Ben Cousins. Not that he could maybe hope one day to have a career that was within sight of either of them, but a hybrid mashup of their strengths.

Curtin looks great, but let’s not put him in the team of the century just yet.
