What was Cameron Mooney thinking when he went nuts at the umpire in the VFL? Fair enough, it was a shocking decision, but to carry on like that in a meaningless game for him was just stupid. He was going to make a much needed comeback against Port on friday, and would have been a massive help in the backline, especially if Tom Harley doesnt come up. Now it looks like he could have a couple more weeks on the sidelines!

Think you answered that in your heading. Who ever know's what's going through the Moonman's mind.

Just plain silly thing to do. Hopefully the VFL take into account that he missed a fair chunk of the game and are reasonably lenient on him.

I think it will be just a substantial fine.
He called the umpire a f****** deadbeat c***

Of all players, Mooney should know better. His track record won't help, but I don't think he will do time over it.

Seriously, I wil be VERY VERY ANGRY, if Mooney gets suspended for this incident.
I suppose prior record could be a big factor, but Mooney only got a $5000 fine last time he messed with an umpire...and that was for making a 'I'm gonna shoot you' gesture with his hand.
Surely, calling someone a f'n deadbeat c**t is far, far, far, far, far, far, far less of an issue than his previous misdamenour, and he should be given a fine (maybe another $5000, possibly even more) and a very stern warning at worst.
To miss a whole game, after already being sent off at 1/4 time (making it 1 3/4 games missed) I think would be a bit much...but we'll see eh?

Pat.

For all the good he does he just lets himself and the team down with stupid things like this. Play Egan against Port and let Mooney stay in the twos for a few weeks until he pulls his head in.

I agree! Regardless of whether Mooney is suspended, I would not play him against Port as a in-club punishment. He needs to learn that he cant act like this and get off scott-free!

guys, seriously by not playing him we are only punishing ourselves. You dont do that kind of thing in footy, if we can get away with not teaching him a lesson, who cares? we miss another tall in our back line.

How can the bloke miss 3/4 of a game AND get reported. From last weekend I lip read at least 3 "you're a f*Cking ********er" or "you're a f*Cking **********heads". Leppitch gave the umpire a bit of an "up yours" gesture and few in a few choice words. A fifty and maybe the red card but that is all.

From The HUN...

Wilson described the sequence of abuse, during which Mooney called him "a f . . . ing idiot" and "a f . . . ing disgrace", the milder descriptions during a sustained attack lasting nearly three minutes.

OK, so it wasn't just one line of abuse...maybe fair enough...grr Mooney...grr
