2005 and 2006 both very much disasters when it came to the finals, and I know we shouldnt put pressure on any particular players, but the glaring difference I see this year compared to 05 and 06 is a fit Burton and Riccuito, this my fellow AFC supporters is going to be the key, keep these two on the park and anything is possible:thumbsu:

O5 Riccuito was suspeneded for the St Kilda QF which I think was what sank our 05 boat.

06 Burton had only just come back from injury and was clearly struggling Riccuito was effected by Parvo and played no part.

07 both on the park and as they proved against Collingwood with six goals kicked between them could prove the difference this time around:thumbsu:

We are in a very weak position to challenge for the flag at all. Coming from 8th with no home finals and having to win 4 weeks in a row, is going to make it very difficult. It's an old cliche, but 'one week at a time' is exactly what needs to be focused on. No chance for a slip up or a bad quarter here or there, just has to be all out effort for every game.

Personally, I prefer that we are playing the Hawks first up, but they are so unpredictable with their recent form that anything can happen. Glad to be in the finals, but not pinning my hopes on anything other than a better send off for Roo than finishing out of the eight.:)

I agree but if all things go according to plan (Port win Friday night) we would travel no further than Melbourne, Injuries seem to be under control llineup is fairly settled will be maybe one change with Bassett coming back. We are on the right side of the finals draw, Im trying to keep a lid on it but geez its hard;)

The difference is that this year we have some form going into the finals...Last two we limped into the finals, allbeit top two.

This years finals draw is the easiest. As long as Port beat WCE. We are likely to play Hawks Kangas and Port...All three we regularly beat, all three suffer from our shutdown style of play. If the Crows hierarchy could pick three teams they would want to play in September from the top 8, they would be the ones.

The two games in Melbourne are likely to be at the Dome, which suits our style of play better than Footy Park. Thankyou AFL and Mr Demetriou for scheduling Hawks at the Dome.

The last two year WCE have been our problem. After our clash with a depleted WCE I am convinced this group of players will NEVER beat them in any game of importance. I dont care what the players say there is a mental block in beating them.

I am hoping Geelong or Sydney get through on other side of draw.

Rucci or Zac said it best in todays paper

Oh k if you dont buy it or read it this is a summary of what was said ;)

'' in 2005-06 Adelaide sat and waited for finals and found waiting hurt, in 2007 the Crows have had to fight and scrape and havent had time to think about it and are now the hunters and not the hunted''

I think there is some truth in this... plus we have been playing for the year each of the last 3 weeks...so one more week of do or die will suit us

It could go either way. It could mean we get used to having to win or it will take too big a toll on us having to win for 6 or 7 weeks and atleast 4 or 5 away.

the fact that we have no pressure on us to perform in the finals will be a massive factor in my opinion.

No must-win-if-not-we-choked big finals.

The Easiest possible path to the Preliminary Finals could see us get there.
Finals vs Hawthorn and most likely the Kangaroos who we match up well with is most likely our pathway and providing Port beat the Eagles, a home Preliminary Final.

Its a dream run, lets hope and pray it happens.

We deserve some finals luck, maybe it will happen in a year when it wasnt meant to. We only need to win 1 more game to be almost level with where we were at in 2005 and where a loss to Freo in the QF last year would have us at. In the Semi's.

I hope we dont get "dome" legs if thats the case.

But if we do... it wouldnt surprise me if Welsh was rested for Kenny McGregor given his shin:rolleyes: splints.

not correct. if we win against hawks the following week will be at The G - no question

You reckon. They only have to play 4 finals at the G in total. There are 2 in first week. Prelim for North or Geelong and the GF...The Dome amy be used as it is more cost efficient for a Crows/Kangas or Geelong game. Doubt the game would get bigger than 50,000 crowd.

Why, I do believe Nick Gill is the difference this year, he has the x-factor, Brett Burton who is playing fitter this year has the x factor too.

Thats 2 x X

X being an unknown means that 2 times anything can happen.

I do agree that we have got a couple of genuine excitement machines in there who can do the unthinkable. We haven't had that for a while and it is invaluable in finals as we all know too well.

They're the players that will break open a stalemate game, either off their own boot, or by example to the other players.

not sure if classed an X factor, but being Roos last year may also give a bit more of a push...He is a great leader of men, with a buring desire to succeed. He will get everything out of his boys.

Having Roo fit and firing in the finals is about as big a boost as you can get. Huge plus on the last couple of seasons.

They work on a banking system, so the AFL have always maintained that they will play as many finals as possible at MCG to keep the ledger square or just in front remember there have been quite a few interstate finals over the past few years.

I definately think there will be no more games at TD.

There will only be one game in melbourne in week 2 of the finals anyway and only 1 game the prelim week as well.

The G will be used

One thing going in our favour this year is that the training seems to have been lessened, we seem a lot fitter and healthier than last year. Maybe if we werent trained so hard in 06 we might have done more than we did. Seems like we have hit good form at the right time, but are too low to do anything significant in the finals.
