Once David Speers joins the ABC, it'll be interesting to see who'll get to be the host for the big political events like Federal Budget nights, the G20/APEC summits, State/Federal elections etc.Great get by the ABC.

Oh i dont knowLOL. The ABC and Fairfax do SUBTLE "INTELLECTUAL" bias - I'm not sure why you compare them with the Murdoch cartoon rags.
Really?Maybe because about 1/10th of the amount of people are wxposed to the abc compared to murdoch/ stokes

The public turned first to the ABC for last night’s election coverage, while Ten’s return to current affairs programming delivered an embarrassing low, Saturday’s TV ratings reveal.
The ABC’s live election night show, based at its Sydney headquarters in Ultimo, averaged 940,000 metro viewers, which rose to 1.336m nationally, with regional viewing included too.
Viewers looked to the ABC’s Antony Green to analyse the numbers
Of the commercial players, Nine did best, with Australia Decides rating 466,000 metro viewers rising to 597,000 nationally.
Seven’s Decision Night In Australia averaged 330,000 metro viewers and 489,000 nationally, according to OzTam.
But Ten had one of its worst nights of all time, with Your Vote: Results rating just 108,000 metro viewers and 170,000 nationally.
In general - not one program
So the 1/10th thing is just the 'vibe'.In general - not one program
Just the herald sun - one paper - has a daily circulation of 350000So the 1/10th thing is just the 'vibe'.
And just recently ABC news and an edition of The Drum had 740,000 and 657,000 viewers.Just the herald sun - one paper - has a daily circulation of 350000
If I was in charge of Sky News, the only time people like Peta Credlin, Alan Jones, Paul Murray could be on the channel is for special events like Budget or Election Nights, but not on a daily or weekly basis. Save their opinions for their respective radio programs.
If you match up Sky News against the ABC News channel, ABC News wins hands down because it got the balance just right-news updates sandwiched in between opinion programs, whereas Sky is focused more on getting people like the ones I mentioned above to air their views on the day's events, which might be alright for the right wing faction but not for those who come home from work or going out to dinner and wants to get informed on what happened that day in local, national, and world news plus what happened in sport or finance as well.
To give you an idea of what I mean, compare Sky News TV listing to that of ABC News for a weekday evening:
SKY NEWS
6-7pm: Credlin
7-8pm: The Bolt Report
8-9pm: Kenny on Media
9-10pm: Paul Murray Live
10-11pm: PML Later
ABC NEWS
6-7pm: ABC News Hour
7-8pm: The Drum
8-9:45pm: ABC News Tonight
9:45-10pm: The Business
10-11pm: The World
So which news channel has the better lineup?

Can't wait until David Speers takes over all of Leigh's hosting duties...she is so average and it would be silly to have someone like David in the wings only doing crappy Insiders! David should host 7:30 for sure.
