Has anyone seen Wayne-John Coleman play? I hear from a very reliable source (his sister) that the Crows have been talking to him and could possibly select him in the draft. I was just wondering what sort of a player he is, what position he plays etc and what other opinions might be of this decision.

He is the son of Sam Newman, built like a brick sh|thouse at 197 cm and 105 kg, all muscle at 20. He is a powerful key forward who kicked 220 goals in 20 games in Tasmania a couple of years ago, then took a year off to attempt triathlon but has returned to football after not getting close to Olympic selection.

Sorry that should have been 120 goals in 20 games.

And yes he did work for the fisheries department in Tasmania.

What club and which league?

As a member of the Tasmania Football Club I have playing lists of u18 and Devils players from 2000 - 01. I have no record of this boy. If this kid was as good as you say he was a couple of years ago, he'd have made a U18 side at least.

what the????? Sam Newman has 3 sons...........but I don't think you'll find Wayne-John Coleman is one of them...............but I could be wrong. If he is, then no way in hell do we want him.

I know his son Jordan supports the Crows, does anyone remember him at the Grand Final Footy Show in 97...he was wearing a Crows jumper, Crows jester hat and waving a flag. And Sam goes "Who the hell are you, you idiot?" and the kid stood up and said, "I'm your son." :p

He played under an assumed name in the Tas league because of the Sam Newman links, and didn't play in the u/18 competition because he wanted to do triathlon.

Ummmm, no

Wayne-John grew up in Ceduna on the SA west coast and played all of his juniors and some senior games for the Kooniba football club. He has only just moved to Adelaide this year or last where he has played for port (I think) U/19's. I know this because thats what his sister told me. The reason I don't know how good he is is because I have only been in Ceduna for 12 months.

Also watch out for the name Joseph Milera in years to come. This guy is going to be a gun. Only 15 and won the A grade best on ground in a grand final, took the mother of all screamers and is playing for Port Adelaide in the SANFL next year.

Shut up, don't try and contradict me. My Wayne-John is far more exhilarating.

If he played for Port Magpies then Macca19 might know somethig about him.

Sir Dan,

If he is the son of Newman as you say should'nt he get picked up under the father son rule by the Cats? Sam is a 300 game player and a guy of his size would be a great asset at Cat Park. I'm also finding it difficult to believe Newman's kid could get this far without the media picking up on it.

Sir Dan didn't say anything about him being Newman's kid, that was Spindoctor having a bit of fun.

Correct. Either way its a valid point that spindoctor has overlooked. :)

No, because he has made it quite clear behind closed doors that if Geelong draft him he will only be a troublesome influence at their club. Sam and Geelong are at odds, and he doesn't want his (not particularly well-known) son playing there.

THE Wayne-John Coleman that has been spoken to by the Crows is NO relation to Sam Newman.
By the way, Wayne-John is likely to be an explosive player as he is Nunga (Aboriginal)
