From what sources tell me (and i will not be revealing them) he will probably end up like ben cousins -if we all remember the medical files found in a suburban street.

So what your saying is that some time in the near future, he will be busted, which will be his third strike, thus bringing the game into disrepute, again.

The only thing Hawthorn have over Richmond is Premierships won since both teams have been in the league. Richmond have a better head to head record, have played in more finals series (despite only playing in 2 since 1982), appeared in more GF's & have won less spoons than Hawthorn.

Just on the first point, It is extremely tenuous (originally invented by a Hawk supporter) to just start the clock when the Hawks entered the comp.

It is more sensible (using the logic above) to have the flag count include the period of time when both teams were in the VFA as well. This sees the Tigers have more VFA/VFL flags than the Hawks.

Getting back to the first question, I think supporters of both clubs do not give respect to the other because neither have been real rivals when they were individually powerful. So each sees the other as 'fakes' or 'upstarts'.

It will only take a few finals games / close games / all in brawls / some other type of scandal for a real rivalry to start. We're almost there actually.

If you re-read my original post you clearly see that I am acknowledging the passion and support of the Richmond faithful, I acknowledge that Richmond still are a big 4 side but when I go on to state some actual facts like 1) You have not achived any notewaorthy success over the last twenty five years, and that last year we had a successful year - yes finishing fifth and coming back after being five goals down in an elimaination final with one of the youngest teams in the competetion is deemed a "successful yerar" in my books.

The oppposite of that is finishing LAST for the second time in three years.

Lance Franklin is without doubt one of if the not THE most exciting player in the competition yet what do Richmond supporters bring out in response?? The medical files saga and THEN start comparing him to Ben Cousins!!! WTF!! All those people who engage in such horrendous gossip should hang their heads in shame, YOU HAVE NO IDEA what is on those medical reports so stop trying to create stuff you have no idea about....

Four years ago last , inprovement to 12'th then 9'th then an injury ridden year and back down. Yes Hawks were successful last year , no arguments but over the last 3 years I wouldnt say you have been any more successful then the Tigers as I dont beleive any Silverware has been added to either club.

As far as buddy goes, it is very unfair to label him the same as Ben Cousins and we should be careful as it wasn't long ago that we had Ty Zantuk playing for us who also tended to turn up in the wrong spots.

You would find most of us may well agree with you that Franklin is one of the most exciting players around but he has been linked to the alleged drug use at Hawthorn, has been involved in a few questionable off field incidents in the past so why not compare him to Cousins, or would you rather everyone just takes the head in the sand approach and hope that everything turns out fine.

As for asking us not to comment on the medical files because we have no idea what was in them are you telling us that you know what was in them? You don't want to talk about it thats fine but I don't think you have the right to tell others not to talk about an issue that is well known despite the injunction granted by the courts.

Once again RE-READ my post. Where did I ask Richmond supporters NOT to comment on Buddy's medical files??? All i said was that it is a disgrace on how SOME Rishmond supporters compare him with Cousins and comment on a file they have never seen. Those guilty of this must live a pretty sad life......

There's an undercurrent of ill will since the club was forced to secure their future by selling 4 of their home games interstate in their quest to survive. Following TWs decision to nominate the tigers ahead of Hawthorn they have seen it as one great p_issing contest since....Ive rarely seen a quality post from a Hawk on BF, ever:eek:

You have got me there Bojangles.....signing on to a lucative sponsorship deal with Tassie which goes a long long way in securing our future as a Victorian based club, and missing out on Wallet mmmm yeh im cut up that he didn't guide us to a spoon and top up with has beens like Graham and Kingsley. Instead we got Clarkson who insisted that we go tall early in the draft netting Roughy, Buddy, and one Jordan Lewis. Your list doesn't even compare to ours, so it's not hard to see which club has the underscurrent of jealousy...

Stuart Dew ring any bells?

PS Doesn't Jordan Lewis play as a midfielder?

errrr shouldnt that read part time Vic club, listen up boofhead, after clearing the decks and trading a couple of overpriced hazbeens clarko won 4 games. we werent presented with the same golden trading opps , subsequently the turnover of our list lagged the Hawks where after retiring off a couple of AA champs and a seasoned ruckman we win 3 1/2. Our performance in 2007 was more a reflection on list management than TWs efforts. A challenge for the simple minded to appreciate all the facts but there ya have it...stick with what you know best partner:eek:

Clarko won 5 games in his first year! Not part time vic club we train in melbourne HQ in Melbourne 1Yes like you the MCG is the ground we share with 3 of the big 4 underachieving teams!! At least like Geelong we can say we actually have a home ground we dont share with half the state!
The big four syndrome is the only thing the Tigers can hang their hats on!! unfortunately such a title doesnt insure success!! Time for Tigers to take a leaf out of Magpies and Hawks books and update facilities! maybe move to craigeburn! and become a part time melbourne club!! just food for thought!

So Noel we can assume you have seen this so called file? To at least to defend it?

Are people that stupid they genuinely think we're moving to craigieburn, how do these people operate a computer, let alone create a forum account? it boggles the mind.

The humourous thing I find in this thread is that it quite a few people seem to agree Hawthorn had a successful year last year. Four teams finished above them. Go back a couple of decades and that wouldn't even place them in the finals! Rules change, times change .. so obviously the definition of a successful season.

One question. Did Port Adeliade (2nd) have a more successful year than the Hawks?

In answer to your question..Being a fairly proud person of a certain religious background I can put my hand on my heart and swear on the bible that I had the opportunity to read the reports - God's honest truth. Being a bit of gossip monger (that's why I'm on big footy) I was pretty surprsied by my decision to decline reading the reports.

I just felt that it was wrong to read other peoples private medical reports, even if they were players from my own club. At the end of the day it's still only just a sport so why are we obssessed with players private lives??

We all go on about Cousins and throw in our two cents but at the end of the day it appears that BC is simply a really sick person struggling with a drug addiction, would we have done the same to Ramanascus when he was diagnossed with cancer??

I'm all for sledging each other, it's part of the fabric of our great game but seriously how bout we back off on the cheap shots re the drug issues?? Plenty of other things to have a go at Hawk supporters for.

Mm. Just a few facts. Firstly the Hawks have in effect done a part-relocate to Tassie, and are reliant on those Tassie Government dollars to prevent a bottom-line LOSS. Doesn't sound anything to be that proud of actually. I also note that 4 weeks ago, Jeff refused to exercise an option to extend Clarkson's contract beyond next year (see). Food for thought indeed. :)

18mn committed to Punt rd redevelopment not enough boofhead, if you bothered to remove your head from your ample clacker for just a minute you may understand whats happening in the REAL world:eek:

I see where you are coming from Noel, but the difference here is choice. BC had the choice to take drugs, and he exercised the option (fairly regularly, from the sound of it). Rama didn't have the choice of whether he wanted cancer or not, and I think it is an insult to people across society that drug addicts are treated the same way as people with cancer and other medical issues that have been thrust upon through no fault of thier own.

Logic would tell you that finishing 5th in 07 after finishing 11th in 06 would be seen to be a successful season!! especially in such a cut throat competition!! improvement is seen as success!! Richmond on the other hand had an unsuccessful season as you went from 9th in 06 to 16th in 07!! so in fact you guys are going backwards!! Yes Port Adelaide had a more successful season of course!! because they did what 14 other teams couldnt!! !!:thumbsu::eek::p
