When do you next expect to play finals??

Maybe 2009.

By then blokes like Gumbleton should have developed enough to be playing regularly, as well as the Dempseys, Hislops etc etc and should have 20-40 games under their belts.

Hopefully by then we have had a bit of a clean out of some of our aging players (JJ, MJ, Campo) and have drafted well in this years and next year's drafts to strengthen and build our young brigade.

The likes of Davey should go from strength to strength, and by then I am wishing that Stanton, Watson and Winderlich are household names in our midfield but also have extra support, from either a young gun draftee or a traded recruit.

All this said by 2009 Lloyd will be close to retirement, Fletcher may have have already gone, and I would expect Hird and Michael to not be playing. With the club today not offering Sheeds another contract and looking for a medium to long term approach it will be interesting to see what path the new coach takes. I for one believe it will be very similar to the Hawthorn one of drafting a hell of a lot of kids.

2010, with an eye to a flag challange in 2011. The new coach will be appointed with a "long term" view.

This has probably ended JJ's, Pev's, Heff's and Campo's careers, right here, right now. No place for them in a 2011 blueprint and no market value in keeping them.

Just want to know some opinions and when Bomber fans next expect to play finals? And why?

Hopefully this season.

We are one game out of the 8 with games against Rich and Carlton coming up who are clearly not trying.
If we can beat Adelaide this week at home (not impossible) and Freo in Perth (again not impossible seeing as they will be out of finals contention by then and will probably be playing kids) we can make the 8.

JJ has another year to go so will be interesting to see what happens there.

Also interesting to see what the coaches idea with Pev is, sure he runs hard and gets it a bit, but his skills are poor.

Campo has said he wants to continue, although credited Sheedy for continuing his career, he's about at the end, as Heff is definately

08 if we have luck and the kids develop quicker than expected.

If we were not at least in the 8 or challenging for a flag by 09-10, it would have been a disaster.

Surely you're a Richmond supporter.

I'll be very very dissapointed if we have to wait another 4 more seasons just to be challenging for the flag! That would mean a drought of at least 11 years with no glory. An extremeley pessimistic view buddy.

This era reminds me of the 97 - 02 generation... 97 we were sh!t (like 06) 98 we just made the 8 from memory (similar to this year) and 99 we were one goal out of a granny and minor premiers.

there is a possibilty that next year we will make the finals. If the essendon play our cards right then we may end up drafting and trading some guns and who knows things may be better next year.
