When The Right Gets Too Nutty

Chris Johnson of Little Green Footballs is experiencing a massive surge in traffic, and many new readers, since posting his Top Ten Reasons Why I've Parted Ways With The American Right :

  • 1. Support for fascists, both in America (see: Pat Buchanan, Robert Stacy McCain, etc.) and in Europe (see: Vlaams Belang, BNP, SIOE, Pat Buchanan, etc.)
  • 2. Support for bigotry, hatred, and white supremacism (see: Pat Buchanan, Ann Coulter, Robert Stacy McCain, Lew Rockwell, etc.)
  • 3. Support for throwing women back into the Dark Ages, and general religious fanaticism (see: Operation Rescue, anti-abortion groups, James Dobson, Pat Robertson, Tony Perkins, the entire religious right, etc.)
  • 4. Support for anti-science bad craziness (see: creationism, climate change denialism, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, James Inhofe, etc.)
  • 5. Support for homophobic bigotry (see: Sarah Palin, Dobson, the entire religious right, etc.)
  • 6. Support for anti-government lunacy (see: tea parties, militias, Fox News, Glenn Beck, etc.)
  • 7. Support for conspiracy theories and hate speech (see: Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Birthers, creationists, climate deniers, etc.)
  • 8. A right-wing blogosphere that is almost universally dominated by raging hate speech (see: Hot Air, Free Republic, Ace of Spades, etc.)
  • 9. Anti-Islamic bigotry that goes far beyond simply criticizing radical Islam, into support for fascism, violence, and genocide (see: Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, etc.)
  • 10. Hatred for President Obama that goes far beyond simply criticizing his policies, into racism, hate speech, and bizarre conspiracy theories (see: witch doctor pictures, tea parties, Birthers, Michelle Malkin, Fox News, World Net Daily, Newsmax, and every other right wing source)
He also explains in detail here why he is no longer a climate change skeptic, even in the wake of ClimateGate.

Johnson cites Skeptical Science : Examining The Science Of Climate Change Skepticism as a primary source of "Global Warming Is A Hoax!" debunkery.

BP - has someone challenged you to start 100 threads in December or something ?

And right on cue:

The Manhattan Declaration of Anti-Christianity

3 December, 2009 · 15 Comments

In the US, the Salvation Army (and other charities) have been so hijacked by anti-immigration rightwingers that they are now apparently insist on proof of citizenship status before giving donated toys to children. Seriously.
They don’t claim to know who’s been naughty or nice, but some Houston charities are asking whether children are in the country legally before giving them toys.
In a year when more families than ever have asked for help, several programs providing Christmas gifts for needy children require at least one member of the household to be a U.S. citizen. Others ask for proof of income or rely on churches and schools to suggest recipients.
The Salvation Army and a charity affiliated with the Houston Fire Department are among those that consider immigration status, asking for birth certificates or Social Security cards for the children.
As someone put it on Boing Boing:
“Evidently, I missed the part of the New Testament where Jesus instructs his followers to check people’s immigration status before rendering charity to them.”

Learn how to design a blog stinking lefty!

Actually these conversions usually go the other way. Both sides have been taken over by nuts.

LGF is NOT a "lefty" blog!

(Unless you're refering to the Jeremy Sear piece, which I doubt 1400 people would even have read let alone commented on :D)

It was a :p comment, without the :p.

As there's no such thing as middle political ground if he's not right he's left.

I read some of his global warming piece, he described his recent learning that The Great Global Warming Swindle had holes in it as some kind of revelation. Fair dinkum, if he was counting on that obviously biased 1 hour doco to guide his understanding then he's a fool.

This is someone who previously had blinkers on suddenly seeing without them. No wonder he's suffered a panic inducing reality check.

LGF were unfairly labelled as racists when all they were doing was showing links to articles about radical Islam. Good to see they're distancing them selves from the far right nut jobs in the US.

Chris Johnson seems to have no position other than to be defender of the current US president.

He was conservative during the Bush years and then did a back flip John Kerry would be proud of around the time Obama was elected and is now seriously obsessed with criticising all things to the right.

He has issues. Did a conservative steal his lunch (or women) last year or something?

If thats the the case, then why in the very next point we supporting.....

  • 4. Support for anti-science bad craziness (see: creationism, climate change denialism, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, James Inhofe, etc.)
And in the remaining points he also complains about right wing support of Malkin, Coulter etc. Way to shoot down your own arguement.

The fact they are raving idiots has nothing to do with their gender.

If Palin or Bachmann were lefties they would be poster children for the feminist movement showing how modern woman can do it all eg. 5 kids each, ran businesses, successful politicians, balancing careers with families, leaders, independent thinkers, not reliant on their husbands...i could go on.

But because the're conservatives, the're none of the above, but rather 'raving idiots'.

And yours is the side of the spectrum that preaches equality and independent thinking. In reality, a womans only equal and independent as long as she falls into line with the lefty group think. Step outside the group think and your a 'raving idiot' like Palin, Bachman, Malkin, Coulter, Ingraham, and any other female that doesn't tow the line.
