mate, he was always leaving, evry man and his dog knew this, he was our biggest assest in terms of getting draft picks and/or quality players to our club that has rarely been seen by AFc supporters, our muppet management screwed this completely............he is a 200 cm 100kg giant who plays FF. no way am i way off the mark.

He's a 200cm 100kg pay packet of overrated horse meat who has done F*** all but miss for 2 years while bleeding the club dry then leaving us high and dry for a bigger pay packet. Jenkins can match his performance for the last 2 at a fraction of the cost. We were never going to get picks for him because of the shonky dad and manger had stitched us up so he was and is worth squat. In fact if we had just de-listed him we would have been better off. So get off your fantasy ride about getting picks or players. It was never going to happen.

You got no idea. Keep backing triggy

Who's backing Trigg or any Crow management involved anyway?
They were dumb, they got shafted.
Answer me this, if the loan shark running the casino offers a deal to the gambler which promises the big score but ultimately costs the gambler more than he started with because the wheel was rigged, who's the villain? and who's just dumb?
Blucher, Tippet and his dad rigged the wheel.
Trigg and Co were stupid enough to play the game.
If they let him go to Gold Coast we would have got no more than we did for Bocky. Bock has about run his race so if he stayed we'd be no better off. And because of the "deal" Tippet was always worth squat on the open market.
So the reality is he was never worth anything more than a compo pick -Tambling wasn't it? and he has fallen well short of our biggest "assest" on the field. Biggest most expensive disappointment maybe.
So were you way off....hell yeah!

To answer the OP, I think we are a real chance next year.

yeah, even if we get hit like Carlton did (which I think is about a 1% chance), they were already at the bottom and were broke, which is why it took them so long to dig themselves out of the hole. its a little silly to expect a decade in the doldrums like they had - the circumstances are entirely different.

we're on the cusp of contending and thankfully planned ahead by recruiting Jenkins in 2011, which may prove to be a master stroke when we look back on this.

Not sure why everyone gets excited about Jenkins. IMO McKernan has more chance of making it as a long term AFL player than Jenkins.

Making silly statements like this really offsets any other intelligent statements you may make.

Saying that the Crows would have been better off just delisting $kurt is just plain wrong.

Balderdash, Jenkins produced more in one season on our list than Smack has in 4!!!!

Smack thus far has been all "potential" very little performance at AFL LEVEL!!!

Jenkins, given his relative inexperience has at least as much, if not more upside than Mc-potential!!

1. i said kurt was our biggest assest, not onfield asset.
2. to answer your question, one is smart and one is dumb.
3. if kurt had gone to the gold coast for a 2nd rounder so be it, that was out of our control, but to lose him 2 years later for nothing because of a shoddy deal our club allowed is unforgivable.

you can carry on how kurt is an overated hack, and jenkins is just as good . but take your emotion out of the arguement and jenkins doesnt even get close to tippet.
2010/2011 we had a pop gun midfield that no forward in the league would of dominated.
if he makes it too sydney ( which i pray he doesnt) and has a solid preseason with them, he will be a very very handy player for them.
im not gonna argue anymore with ya truck, agree to disagree.

Me too, as long as injuries stay away OR stay away from our shallow depth, we'll be up there with a bit more finals experience under our belts knowing full-well that because of some dodgy umpiring we matched the best and could quite easily have taken the premiership window off its hinges last year and shoved it down the victorian scribes collective throat.

I didn't say we should have but if you look at the outcome with hind sight (a wonderful thing I know) we would have been better off. we could have just told him to walk and we'd still have draft picks this draft (or what ever penalty we are facing). Just emphasizing how little true value tippet was/is to us.

cool, I think we are actually pissed about the same thing but where we lay the blame is different. I'm pissed at the con man your pissed at the club for being conned.

Do some people honestly believe what has happened to us recently will not impact our onfield performances next year? We will be lucky to finish 7th or 8th. We are going to miss out on toping up our list from this years draft. We have lost our second tall forward/backup ruckman and other fellow top 4 contenders from this year have all improved their lists. We also have a tougher draw.

We should be OK for the next year or so as we have a strong list. Will cost us in 2-3 years time as the players we missed out on drafting would have come into the side.

We will be thereabouts next year ... but like most sides, will depend on injury count.

Draft sanctions will only really cost us one player. Yeah, there's pick 50 as well but at that point it's a crap shoot. It's that pick 21 or whatever it is that we'll miss.

Even there, those players are only 50/50 propositions at best. It's not ideal but hardly a death sentence.

The killer is losing Tippett for nothing. As much as he wasn't brilliant this year, he was important and I don't have faith in Jenkins or McKernan giving us as much as Tippett did in 2013. We'll need our youth to come on fairly dramatically to make up for that shortfall plus the distance the other top 4 sides have gone forward.

I actually have plenty of faith in Jenkins, but only a smidgen of hope in McKernan.

Jenkins 2012 average stats - 11 kicks, 5 marks, 1 goal
Tippett = 10 kicks, 4 marks, 2 goals

If we get 20 goals out of Jenkins and 19 more from Walker (a certainty as long as he doesn't get suspended!), then that covers Tippett's 39 goals this year.

Tippett's best facet was his contested marking, but more so his ability to hardly ever be outmarked, which resulted in plenty of ball spillages for our forwards. This may be hard to cover, but I'd back Jenkins and Smack to contest well.

As someone pointed out, perhaps pick up our needs in free agency?

You're right. It'll be the same as if we botched pick 20, which is not the end of the world. As for pick 50ish, there'll be someone equivalent later on.

While Tippett's been important to team structure, we're all getting carried away by his game against a non-player in Schoenmakers. He stunk it up not long before that, can't kick, is prone to concussion, and took up valuable salary cap space which breeds resentment in the rest of the group.

The critical thing is how this whole affair affects the playing group. It can mess with their heads or galvanise them. The coaching team's approach is going to be the key.

Yes this has been my belief since this fiasco turned bad as I agree with all above especially as top 4 all improved weaknesses for season ahead and we did have weaknesses especially up forward and needs like speedy outside mid and extra tall defenders which I am sure we were going to look at in trade but as $ippett trade turned sour our chances of using picks from trade and maybe current players did not happen .
We have to with our very late and meagre 2 and 1-2 rookies need to cover some short term needs which will affect us down track as well and can only pray only this year will be affected.
Not a pessimist but much as try to raise my head above whats occurred and looking ahead think we might slide a little down in 2013 as Danger -- Sloane - walker etc can only carry team so far as every game had too many passengers . Hopes are maybe Johnson and Jenkins can give us something up front etc and whilst dont believe Crouch will have a major impact in 2013 maybe he gives Thommo some week in week out support and help those under performers play SANFL.

Knowing the "character" of guys like Danger, Rory, Tex, Sauce ets my money would be on this seriously galvanising our playing group into a "Us against Them" mentality!!! :thumbsu:
