Was just pondering to myself during a uni lecture, when exactly did players start getting drenched in Powerade/Water/any other liquid substance after their first win? Will Sierakowski of North got absolutely covered in the stuff on Saturday. Looking back around 8 years ago or so, I can't really remember it happening. Does anyone know when teammates started doing it?

Obviously I know of players/coaches getting drenched in water after a big win in American Football/Baseball, but I suppose it's yet another unique take on our game the way our players do it.

I've always thought it had a bit of a natural birth. The players are given powerade after the game the new kids go in the middle to sing the song. The players like to give each other shit and so they throw their drinks at them. It grew and grew and now its a tradition.

Giants or the Bears in the NFL during the 80's, saw a thing on it on ESPN the other day.

I'm led to believe John Orresnon was the first player to receive a "Power Shower".

Could be wrong, though.

12 posts in this thread and not one reference to AFL - on the AFL board.

Even Bukkake got a mention first.

First if you take out the reference to Will Sierakowski and North Melbourne in the OP. But yeah. Bukkake.

they get the drinks handed to them when they walk off, only natural to throw it all over the guy/s in the middle after celebrating a win... I wonder if Powerade are also pushing it, you know, for advertising purposes.

I reckon it originates from when Kramer dumped Gatorade all over Marty Benson who sadly passed away.
Coca Cola sincerely thank you for referring to Powerade, however I think Gatorade was the original and it was either Kramer or the NY Giants of the 1980's that started it.

I have never once seen in the NFL, players form a circle and sing a club song while a new players stand in the middle being drenched by Powerade.

They used to circle them and throw piss on em

But now beer isnt acceptable for professionals sportsmen
Its turned to cordial flavored drinks.

I dunno but I'd love to see a first gamer one day just crack it and say "stop ****ing pouring that shit on me you pack of campaigners" and storm off.
