Now that Pratt is Prez, I wonder where this leaves Denis Pagan.
Smorgon clearly didn't want him there, but couldn't get rid of him (we all know the story)

Surely Pagan must be thinking that he will lose his job if on-field performance doesn't improve. All the positive reaction to Pratts appointment will surely result in Pagan losing his job if the Blues continue to languish on-field

Thoughts ?

Dunno.

Quite frankly, dont care at the moment. Footy hasn't even started yet. Our club has just started to sort itself out off-field. :thumbsu:

Give it the year, see how Pagan goes by the end of it.

For the record, i'm believing we will have the best year on-field that we have had for the past5 years.:thumbsu:

6 wins is a must. 5 or less will see us finish bottom 2 again and will see a lot of pressure on Pagan to retain his job.

6 wins would be borderline IMO.
7+ wins would reassure the faithful that we are heading the right direction and give Pagan another year to push towards the 8. 10-12 wins the following year would see a contract extension and allow Pagan to see it through.
IMHO.:thumbsu:

Pagan will be safe for this season atleast.

Pratt will assure Pagan of his future for the moment but he will also state that he is accountable like everyone else at the club.

Pagans future won't be dependant on the number of wins, but it will be dependant on the developement of the list. There is a lot of talent on our list, but it is very young and inexperienced: in conjunction with this we don't have enough senior players (25-28) to really make a huge step forward. The list is at the point where we need to start looking at players in this age bracket, if we can show stability off field and the undoubted potential of the list we may be able to attract a big name or two that can help us go to the next level. I am not talking about a washed up has been, but players that are is there prime or reaching their prime.

I think you will see the list flourish, Pagan won't have to worry about knives in the back and will be able to develope it better. I would like to see Mitchell go for the benefit of the club, with TD to take his place in junior developement and coach of NB.

I must say that this still perplexes me that Mitchell is still at the club, although I suspect the media (well, Caro anyay), has blown it out of all proportion.

Sure enough both Pagan and Mitchell are working in the same direction and it may work to a degree but as I have said before: Is this relationship effecting CFC ability to maximise the potential of the list?

I think Pagan would want to have a good solid start to the season, otherwise he might just be in a bit of trouble.

I'd still like to see what he can do with a half decent list at his disposal.

Agreed.
If god forbid we start the season 0 - 5 or 1 - 7 you would have to think he would be under the pump.

I know RP has stated that he doesn't want to interfere with football matters but I reckon he should make one of his main non financial priorties to sit down with Pagan, Mitchell and the rest of the football department and try find some common ground between the blueing parties.

We have had enough disunity at the club to last us all several life times.

I would like to see everyone put everything behind them and work together for the benefit of the club.

depends on the performances. they might all be less than a goal losses.

one thing is for sure, people (and the media) will over-react during the first third of the season.

Doesn't Mitchell just have some admin job anyway this year HBF?

He's still coaching the Bullants as far as I know AWG. But if you believe what other people have saying, his office is on one side of the ground, and Pagans is on the other. Who the hell would know what's going on, but if there is some tension there, it needs to be sorted out ASAP.

I used to work for Visy, and if he runs the club like he does Visy, then Pagan can expect his life to be a fate-worse-than-a-fate-worse-than-death if he doesn't perform. But most likely, if he don't perform, Pratt will just sack him and pay him out to make it look gentlemanly and what-not. In fact, I'll bet money that happens.

I know that whole situation wasn't Barry Mitchell's fault, but I didn't understand why he didn't apply for the Tasmanian Devils job. He'd still be coaching at the same level and he'd be able to advertise himself to other clubs for an assistant or head coaching role like Darryn Creswell did.

It's about one fifth the problem that Caro makes it out to be. Speaking of which...

Anyone notice she has had a series of plastic surgeries? First during her long service leave and again during the off-season? Maybe all the attacks on her looks got to her. Wasn't sure at first, but it was obvious at the TV rights conference. I'd feel guilty pointing this out, but she suggested Mark Thompson should quit the Geelong job because he was losing weight and looked 'gaunt.' She shouldn't be throwing rocks...
