Where should are new stadium be situated?

Burswood is clearly the best option and would enable a whole new entertainment precinct to be developed. If they put the Soccer\Rugby stadium nearby it would give Perth modern facilities and improve dullsville too.

If they are going to build a new stadium make sure your not building one too small from the beginning.

I think East Perth is the best for transport. Get people on the trains- take the midland people via east perth and the rest via claisebrook. i don't know that much research has been done into Burswood- looked more like a pipe dream than a realistic bid, and it's lost out with one of the three arenas it was hoping to get there.

The only proble I have with East Perth is it would be a nightmare to park. It was hard to find a parking spot when the glory were getting 10,000 people, 60,000 would be chaotic.

Burswood is pretty much the same as East Perth.....with more parking, more surrounding development and better entertainment facilities nearby.

After the parking situation yesterday and with Mueller Park closed all year I will be DISGUSTED if Subi is renovated.

How much of a w@nker is the WAFC head as well, We don't see the parking as a problem as we want people to catch public transport.

Having gone to see The Boy From Oz at Burswood I would strongly suggest against Burswood as a location. The place did not handle the crowds well at all. Canning Hwy was a carpark and they had to bus people in from car parks well away from the venue. It was horrendous.

It also happened to be grand final day and during the show hugh jackman pranced around in a sequinned eagles jumper to the cheers of thousands of latent eagles fans– much to my disgust. I was a bit happier later that week when I found out that he did the same thing in a crows jumper at the Adelaide show.

But dont you think they would build a car park as well, or will everyone just be parking on the side of Farmer Freeway

The thing is, everytime I’ve been to Burswood when there has been a large crowd attending the place has handled it very badly. Subi may not be perfect, but at least there are a dozen ways to get in and out of the place.

Cockburn for mine. Their proposal was first rate. There was too much negativity on being too far from the city, so what, it's a first class stadium we need irrespective of where it is. I am sure the stay in Subi case is all about West Coast not having to pack up and find a new HQ, but thats what you get when you have no fundamental roots. Unlike Freo who can call Freo home.

yes i would have liked the cockburn option in the poll - just did the survey online & put in a mention of cockburn

irrespective of which team you go for
with the perth mandurah link to lead to large population growth down mandurah way; it would make more sense to locate the stadium there plus no residential area to disturb unlike subi or east perth

Should be bang in the middle of town on the Perth Entertainment Centre site, extending over the sunken railway.

While i'd like to see the Government resume Belmont Park I know it wont happen.

Burswood would be ok because the grounds would be close to Belmont Park Station. There is plenty if land to increase the Station size and put in a couple of storage loops for extra trains. Getting a service from the Armadale line to the Mandurah line will be a bit complicated. Most likely people would have to transfer by foot from Perth Station to William Street Station.

Parking will always be a problem unless the stadiums are built away from the CBD. Belmont Park has plenty at the moment so it would be a case of fixtures that dont overlap with race days.
If the Burswood was to become a full on entertainment district you might not get mass exodus like currently happens from Subi.

Any trains to Burswood area?... That's what I love about Subi, Bus and Train and your right outside the ground

Train line runs right pass the area being considered. There is a train station that services Belmont Park mabey a 5 to 10 walk.

There's just not the space, unless they want to bash down a heap of buildings on Wellington and Roe Streets.

Google Earth have got a handy little tool that lets you measure distance between 2 points. The distance between Roe St and Wellington St is actually less than the distance between Subiaco Rd and Roberts road, and that's too narrow as it is.

That's what the Burswood option has plenty of that just about all the other options don't. Space.

Cockburn for me. Loads of parking and public transport almost to the door. We could also build a bigger stadium and have room to increase the size in the future. Inner-city stadiums are a thing of the past.
