So I guess we to admit that Geelong are not as half as good as we believed them to be, we also have to accept that Geelong might not appear in the finals this year we also have to admit we are not a premiership chance anymore. What happened? How can we be so promising at the start of the season then suddenly look as average as Jason Spinks? What is the problem of the club is it the culture? Does Geelong simply accept losing and doesn't complain? What ever the problem is this year is a lost cause, we're not going to do anything. We will end up 7th-10th certainly not the ladder region we expected at the start of the season. I think the club needs a shake up and as a fellow Geelong supporter I put this to you; this is what needs to happen at the club or else we will never win a premiership. 1) Bomber must leave, he as mentioned in previous post simply accepts losing 2) a rugged angry coach needs to be brought in, one who will shake the club to its foundations 3) The new coach should never be attacked. To often with Geelong a new coach will come in and the players will complain about him, then the coach will leave annoyed and the town will resume to admire our losing culture. Bomber being 3rd longest serving coach is testament to the fact that we don't like coaches who are mean to our beloved players. I suggest Lethal,Sheedy or Pagan whoever it is they need to be tough. 4) Gardnier and Kingsley need to be given away at the pound, with a bit of luck they will be exterminated. 5) Lose the culture, this is the reason Geelong are so frustrating, it is also the reason for our many failures.

Do this and Geelong will be like Carlton. A succesfull club.

We are the best mediocre team around and everybody seems to love it. Agreed the culture is not acceptable and losing does not hurt enough, especially the supporters i sit with in the Wade stand..Until we become ruthless on and off the field we will remain knocking on the door.... Start with the coaching staff and about 4 - 6 players...

Yes, i agree.. Thompson needs to go!! i heard from a very reliable source, that thompson is a good coach when i comes to getting a side together and is well liked, but when i comes to the crunch in a game, he doesn;t have the moves to go with other coaches..

anyways... another thing that needs to happen is a big throw out of some players..

Batchelor, Slade, S.Hunt, Sheringham
* Keep Grima (shows potential)

Seniors to go:

Gardnier, Kingsley, Koulo, Ricco, Longernan

Maybes:
McCarthy and Spencer

That would leave us with atleast 5 new spots on our list.. 5 new comers from the draft.. yum yum.

Trades:
Byrnes, Mackie and Hunt all could be traded...

I don't have any love for Carlton, but 16 premierships is a lot better than 6.

Im not sure if Sheedy would leave Essendon for another club but he would be much better the Bomber atm.

Isnt Varcoe a midfielder? We need his pace there. I think we should trade Ling and Kelly and keep Batchalor. DJ could be droped too. No Woji in that team? We need his pace too even if he starts on the interchange. The rest of your post I agree with.

From what I've heard Varcoe isn't ready yet. As much as I've been critical of Ling and Kelly - brutally and rightfully so I might add - I don't think we need to go as far as delisting them. Not yet anyway.

The main thing I've been advocating is a back to basics approach - players having to genuinely earn their senior selection regardless of who they are. To me not enough are doing that. Ling and Kelly, with Kingsley also are the three absolute standouts here. If the playing group realised that selection wasn't automatic - and more importantly the monetary incentives that follow that - I think you'll see across the board a lot more determination.

Remember, none of our players do it for love. They get paid quite handsomely at AFL level. To expect and demand a professional performance is not unreasonable. On the contrary, it's a minimum requirement.
