My brother and I are going on a parent funded holiday to somewhere in Australia. Cairns, Alice Springs and Perth are the options being discussed. I can't choose between Cairns and Perth.

Cairns has the sun and the beaches, but I dislike heat and like winter, plus the beach will be a no go for me, thanks to the amount of beer consumed by my god self since summer. I don't want to scare all the ladies away. So what else is there to do up there?

Perth has more to do I have no doubt, but is more expensive (my folks aren't that rich). I've also been there before so there is not much new.

Alice Springs.... Can't say I'm really up for that. As I said I hate heat. And I'm not a sucker for the Australian outback.

What do you all recommend? Anywhere else? Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Tasmania are no goes. Broome or Darwin maybe?

you say you dont like heat, hmmm every one of your picks are hot places!

maybe somewhere on the east coast of NSW, its not too hot there.

Heat is not a major worry. But I like cold, and Perth does get cold in winter (although not as bad as it gets here). Alice Springs is freezing at night apparantly, but as I said I'm not keen on going ther anyway.

I've been to the NSW coast a few times. Also sick of the mountians, that's been my winter holiday in that area a bit recently.

I'm leaning towards Perth but I'll probably go to Cairns anyway. I just want to know what there is to do up there, at this time of year especially.

Talk about having tickets on yourself Daics, ;)

I suggest Darwin, totally different lifestyle from the places you have already been, steer clear of Broome, it's expensive as hell, unless you know people there to stay with.

So how come you don't visit me when you are here, not too scared are you. :D

He's bothered by anything with a fearsome reputation of viciousness and a propensity to bite.
He doesn't like dogs either.:D

How did you manage to pull that off??

I have no idea considering how stingy they are. They just asked if we wanted to go. Must have got a huge pay check today.

Cairns bound by the looks of it. Brother wants to go there. I can't think of any good reason to go to Perth anyway. Looking foward to it now.
