I voted for geelong but I didn't read the saints one properly.

I would choose the saints.

I think overall, as opposed to individually, they are the three strongest players.

For me, Fisher is probably the second best defender there to Scarlett (really rate campbell as a small backman), Hayes is amongst the best mids in the comp, and I'd put riewoldt behind fev and franklin. steve johnson is a very good player even though i think he's a prick that looks like the guy with the car keys from the sgic commercial, but i'd take a kp forward that marks over someone who plays more like a half forward flanker.

I voted for Bulldogs but yes that was my inspiration

thanks man i'm flattered for me inspiring this poll. but the truth of the matter is. the geelong combo in this thread would win. (scarlett tips it) however you'll never get a true indication; as about 90% of the Hawthorn FC hang around on this poll board trying to see if they can squeeze one more 'Hawthorn is better than everyone'...

1. Judd
2. Ablett
3. Hayes
4. Hodge
5. Cross

1. Franklin

3. Riewoldt
4. B.Johnson
5. S.Johnson

Equal 1st (8 points) -->Geelong; Carlton; St.Kilda
4th Hawthorn: (9 points)
Last W.Bulldogs: (12 points)

  1. Scarlett, Ablett, S.Johnson
  2. Waite, Judd, Fevola
  3. Brown, Hodge, Franklin
  4. Fisher, Hayes, Riewoldt
  5. Harris, Cross, Johnson

Geelong have three stars/freaks and match winners in their group.

Brown has an AA jumper, but even with the clangers, I think Waite has more natural talent if he delivers and can play at both ends of the ground. Great to see Ratten playing Waite in the one position and not throwing him all over the shop like Pagan did.

Going by this year, Hodge has had more of an influence than Judd. I think most people would agree. Judd of course has been better over his career and looks as though he will be back there soon, but over the 1st 6 rounds Hodge has been better.

Doggies 5th? Luckily it is 22 v 22, not 3 v 3.

BTW, FWIW Dale Morris > Brian Lake Harris
Adam Cooney > Daniel Cross
Robert Murphy > Brad Johnson of 2008

It was meant to be a combination of career to date as well as potential. Harris in my opinion is easily the doggies best defender.

I would have:
DEFENCE:
1. Scarlett
2. Harris
3. Fisher
4. Brown
5. Waite

1. Judd
2. Ablett
3. Hodge
4. Cross
5. Hayes

1. Franklin
2. B.Johnson
3. Riewoldt
4. Fevola
5. S.Johnson

1) Doggies = 7
2) Geelong = 8
3) Hawks = 8
4) Carlton = 10
5) Saints = 11

But I could easily see other relatively impartial voters having it in a completely different order.
