It makes for an interesting last 3 weeks, and will suck for whoever misses out. They probably will rue one or two losses over the season that they should have won.
On the flip side the chance of 8 playing a gf, let alone winning, is pretty small. Still better this year than most. Which is also what makes this finals series exciting. You could have a legitimate case for any top 9 bar maybe the Bulldogs.

The Hawks win has really thrown the spanner in works. Think we all expected it would be them with the tough draw.

You won't want to be the team in the top 9 to drop one this round.

Expect it to come down in games in the last round which is awesome.

Should be a great end to the season.
If they bring this form into finals they are a flag contender.

If Bulldogs make finals they will certainly worry whoever they play.

Defence becomes even more of a priority in high pressure finals footy, and unfortunately I don't know if the Bulldogs 2025 brand stands up. They can't play that fast, sexy footy as they would playing Essendon. Hawks controlled the game well in last year's EF, I just don't see the Doggies winning purely on offence.

Will be happy and pleasantly surprised if I'm wrong though. But massive wins against Dons, Saints, Roos, Tigers, Eagles mean nothing.

I thought GWS had a good defence

So the comprehensive win over GWS doesn't count.

Why would they hope you scrape by Melbourne?

Every club not playing Melbourne is actually hoping Melbourne win every game as it opens up more opportunity to make/stay in the eight.

If Melbourne win 1 of the 3 the team they beat is probably the team to miss.
His point is Hawthorn are highly expected to beat Melbourne, clubs competing like GWS. Would want Hawthorn to scrape by as it would put % into possibility, if Hawthorn beat up on Melbourne that becomes highly unlikely.

Exactly. We thump Melbourne the Giants would have to win all 3 to push us out unless we lose to Brisbane. They go 2-1 and we go 1-1 but percentage stays around the 120-125 we are odds on to make finals.

15 with their percentage may not be enough

True but I think it should be.

Freo have a bit of a rough run too. That Bulldogs vs Freo game in the last round will be interesting.

Not a done deal against Stkilda but even if they do they will have to belt both North and Saints to make up the percentage to us.

I think Freo could be an issue still.

That final round could end up an important match where one makes it and one doesn't.

2-3 weeks ago I would have said they had as hard a draw as us but tonight now turns into a should win for them if they are serious.
