History says all the cards usually go against the dockers
Maybe, but you make your own luck a bit in footy IMO.

I reckon as soon as you're relying on opposition results to get somewhere, you're generally a pretty ordinary side.

Will say though, the Dockers are unlucky that they picked this bizarro year to win 15 games. The fact they still could miss out on that total is pretty crazy.

Losing to Melbourne at the MCG earlier didnt help the Dockers in the long run. Look where Melbourne are on the ladder.

The Dockers have no one else to blame but themselves even if this season is a bit bizarre. Once again they have self destructed.

Whoever it is I think there is two ways to look at missing with 15 wins.

One view is the team is unucky as any other year they get inTo the top 8.

The other view is we have never had a year with so many poor teams where wins were so easy to come by so maybe 15 wins isn't as bigger achievement.

We also had 2 narrow losses to the swans too

Melbourne have been plucky this year. Beat Brisbane at the Gabba, almost beat Bulldogs, lost to Pies by 1. They could make finals next year.

They always have us twice, so that helps.

This is why it is just so hard to trust teams like Freo and Gold Coast.

Both have golden opportunities and both have shit the bed at home.

Both up against good teams though. It's not as if they're playing minnows. And the ladder has been tight. Lions played in the last two grand finals and Giants have made a prelim and semi losing by just two points to the eventual champs.

But this is when you get it done. It’s not like they have lost in hard fought tight ones either, both were comprehensively outplayed.
