after kicking 20 odd goals in 2 weeks, and with Hally gone, the coast is now clear for big JW to stand up. I reckon this guy could be a freak for us up forward. Maybe it will still take a couple of seasons, but mark my words, 2011 Jesse White will be a match winner and a gun forward for the red and 'white'. Any takers? And along with Vez, Grundy (IMO) and Goodes, we can return to the Halcyon days of having one of the sharpest forward lines in the business. God knows we need it!

Normally I'd tell you to settle down and put your pants back on but I have a feeling that White could be something special as well. He has a lot of agility for a player of his size and his skills are pretty decent too. With some hard work he could be exactly what we need.

White is not the new Brown.

Brown wishs he could be that good :D

Yuck, keep your pants on Malfan... no one wants to see that.

Yep really excited to see Jesse play consistently up forward. Hasnt been given enough of a chance in the 1's up forward yet. Grundy is playing really well down back atm and Roosy knows it, really rating his performances and giving him the jobs on some big forwards. I dont really know what to think about it, cause he is really playing well down back but it also forces Roosy to use Ted and LRT as utilities eventhough they are far better used down back. So Grundy going forward could help with that, and playing well down back could help his development as a forward. Bevan should play more up forward as has been mentioned in other threads.

Next year a forward line of the following with Goodes and ROK floating in and out of the forward 50 and Jolly/Currie resting forward while not in the ruck is what i would want:

F: Veszpremi White Johnston
HF: Bevan Grundy Meredith

May not be great next year, but with time to develop it could be a really exciting forward line for us. I'm excited!

You are really getting ahead of yourself. White is showing some promise as a forward but don't forget that he hasn't actually done anything in the seniors yet.

He can kick a million goals in the reserves but it won't mean anything until he can actually stat to consistantly kick goals in the seniors.

He hasn't been given a lot of game time nor has he been given a decent stint up forward but IMO he's shown he has the attributes to be a star. I don't see any problem with speculating.

I don't like to blow my own trumpet (and I'm sick of MalFan offering) but I've been spruiking White for a year or more. And yes, with Grundy and Vez alongside.

Schmidt once got 63 possessions in the Reserves and look at him now;)

Point is Reserves form is just that Reserves form. Its good to see him at Full Forward kicking 20 Goals in 2 matches but I doubt he'll ever produce 2 games like that at Full Forward at Senior Level.

At least we know he can play the position and kick a bag which is handy to know and should "hopefully" see him come into the side this week against Carlton and play Full Forward and get a chance at the position for once.

Robbie!
The fact that he has kicked that amount of goals in two weeks of playing his now new position is a pretty impressive effort considering prior to that, he was being groomed as a backup ruckman for Jolly.
With Hall out of the equation, Roos has told him to go back, play full forward & hone his leading, marking, & kicking skills. To come back after two weeks with a return of 20 goals & 10 or so behinds, is a MASSIVE effort from a young fellow that STILL hasn't been allowed to settle into one position.

He will go into the seniors a better forward for his two efforts in the twos. that is where one hones their skills. He will cause some damage in the remaining 7 games of the season, leaving us supporters pining for more, only making us wait an entire pre-season, when he will come back even bigger bodied (imagine that) & that little bit wiser.

Great to read a positive thread for a change with every post showing some confidence in our new future forward setup!
Cheers!:)

Couldn't agree more. Hall's departure, as sad as it was, is Jesse White's opportunity to loom large. MASSIVE is right. He can play alongside Micki O for the remainder of the season, and be inspired to carve out his own niche from 2010. You are right Soph, a superstar in the making if I ever saw one. In the words of the great Brian Johnson... Jesse White... "stand up and be counted, for what you are about to recieve....!"

Let's not get too carried away. I kicked 5 on debut in the under 15's and the headlines statewide read "Heinz EatBig is the new Campbell's Chunky".

Look at me now.

The Swans better be working overtime to keep Jesse. If we lose him to GC i'll be bloody ropable.

Isnt Jake Orreal from around there too, Soph...just saying...

Thanks for re-assuring me guys.

Is their a way to find out when his contracts over?
SIGN HIM TOMORROW!

Okay someone make Jesse fall in love with them so he stays.

I'm looking at you, bateman.
