The question you must ask yourselve BIG one is , are we trying to get the best player we can for that money or do we decide we want him and do what it takes to get him.
I really think we are looking at a totally disillusioned quality football player that doesn’t get along with the current coach, very much like Gehrigs last year at WC. This guy thinks he is gun, he wants to be considered a gun, he wants to play in winning sides that give him a chance to show him at his best, he might also want to create the rules so we should be very careful there. Whitnall is either worth the sort of money I’m talking about or he would be a waste of time having. Put him in a side, get him entwined in the Cats side make him feel integral to our side, to a good side, a side with the on ball talent to feed his leads. I’m sure he would have been looking at BG and KK and saying why aren’t you guys kicking more with that amount of ball? He would be looking at the Cats as a good fit, out of the top 5 clubs we are the one crying out for a quality Key.
If he plays the way he is now he’s worth nothing, he’s worth negative because he take a spot but if we can return him to were he was hes worth my money and probably more.
Thats an offer he might take to go to Brisbane but that will not get him to Geelong, hes not Sav Rocca and would get other offers from somewhere. I would also say that type of contract would not be the approach needed to get the best out of him, down here.$100,000 and a bonus system that would see him earn maybe another $350,000,
