that's all well and good, but then you should expect players to have the same attitude. when we have trouble fitting waite, walker, carazzo etc into our salary cap, you should expect then to take the same line. "pay me what i'm worth or i will go elsewhere" and "it doesn't matter that the club showed faith or that i have been here a long time".

Campo on 600k a year and Whitnall on 500k a year for the last 4 years. Great value for the club.
Campo and Lappin both wanting a 3 year contract. Still holding out. The club is not going to give in to these demands.
Paying what someone is worth is the way to go. If the club needs to offer a bit less to a younger player later then that is fine.
What I am talking about is for example Waite in 3 years time getting a new contract and being worth lets say 400k a season. The club offers him 350 and another club offers 450. In that situation he would stay but if the club offered him 200k then that would be insulting.

Similar to what the Saints did with Kossy. They offered less than his original contract at 275 and Carlton offered 500k. The Saints offered 400k after that which is not that much different from the Blues offer.

You can pay players a bit less to keep them together but it still needs to be realistic.
Lappin is worth 200 to 250 and a 2 year contract (would have been 300 a month ago but his form is a worry)
Campo is worth 200k a a 2 year contract.
Lance is worth 200k and a 2 year contract with incentives to get him 300k if he plays like this year.

But since Lappin and Campo are asking for 400k each and a 3 year deal for Lappin and a 2 year deal for Campo after coming down from 3 years then it is not suprising the club has not signed them.

Well...Well...

Big Lance, outstanding.

I raise this question to you, sould Lance now be our CHB and a backline player?

He can read the ball so well and uses it pretty well too.

A couple of weeks now he has been superb down back.

Could he be the missing link, could he be the new player to be our general in the backline?

Waite, Fisher, Bryan can all play CHF there seems to be little room or need for him down there.

Would totally agree with there thats his best position and dennis should leave him there and not move him because he will become a stronger player and will carve all the center half backs up every week

I agree with a lot of your points. I also would like to point out that we don't know what the players are asking for or what the club is offering. (well, maybe you do, but i don't)

edit: Also, i never mentioned lappin. he is not a real blue, so i'm not fussed with what happens to him.

He's not a pure CHB is he? Rather a rebounding/3rd tall type defender but he has been great. His market value has ski-rocketed and we could get PLENTY for him in trades.

On that - what do you think we should/could get for him and at which club?

The way he is playing and the talk going around the circles at the moment, someone like the Western Bulldogs would be willing to trade possibly thier 1st rd pick for him, which would probably end being 9-10. I wouldn't them throwing in a Mitch Hahn as well.
