With Rocca, Reid, & Rusling all injured, who can step up to full forward? Cometh the hour, cometh the man. So who will it be?

I would say play Fraser, Wood and Bryan and rotate all 3 through the forward line with Cloke at CHF.

Interesting to see when Fraser comes back whether MM will take a chance and play 3 rucks with Bryan and Wood. It worked well last nite with both of them floating forward. Would love to see Fraser play a Richo type roll and keep him away from the centre bounce where he clearly doesnt have that much of an impact.

Question is, is Fraser fit enough to play that type of roll?

I tend to agree. Wood has shown enough to suggest he can pinch hit at full forward and his contested marking is very good. Fraser and Bryan can contribute as well.

As long as someone can provide a contest and bring the ball to ground for Leon, Medhurst, Didak, etc, we won't miss Rocca too much.

Would like to see Chris Dawes be given an opportunity at some point too.

Bryan can be devastating in a pack mark. Why not use him as the ice-breaker at FF (in-between stints of power punches in the centre square).

agree , but id leave fraser their the majority of the game unless he is not getting touches. for a big guy he is good when the ball goes to ground but can also take a mark and snap a goal.

fraser definitely needs to replace rocca as the ff.

i really hope mm does this, and lets wood bryan take the ruck duties for the majority of the time.

dawes i dont know much about , but id imagine he couldnt be as effective as what fraser would be down forward atm

Little Medders is no stranger to playing out of the square, and it forces the premier full backs to line up somewhere else.
For a tall though, i would go Cloke FF and give him the whole 50 like Carl do with Fev. CHF JB or JA the other down back.

I want to see them try the 3 rotating ruckmen and Travis Cloke at CHF (where he won a Copeland, not at FF).

I think we can exploit Sydney and Adelaide down back if we go tall, and add our small/medium forwards to the mix and with good delivery (i know thats not guaranteed) we would have a dangerous forward line again.

Cloke performs poorly at FF.

The one player that must step up now that our forward line is light on is firstly Cloke. Although his kicking percentage is higher this year, overall he has not been as consistent as 2007. He must step up for the remainder of the year.

On top of that, I think there are a number of options to play a second tall.

1 - Play 3 rucks and use one as a forward and rotate
2 - Debut Dawes
3 - Bring in Anthony as a forward same as his debut which is not his correct position
4 - Bring in Presti or Anthony to play back and use Brown as a forward.

Wood did some nice things in the Fwd 50 last week, he would be my preffered second tall assuming Dawes isn't up to it. FWIW if we make it to the finals I wouldn't want Dawes to be holding up the FF post.

Shane Wakelin :D hahaha

Na i think J.Anthony would suit the roll at the moment... good 2 see mac affer... scoring 4 goals on the weekend

Strauchanie!

This bloke has been on our list for 3 years now and is yet to play a senior game. I reckon the next couple of games could make or break his career.

I reckon you're right mate. He's hungry, he's not injured, and he'd be a big, solid target in the front line.:thumbsu:

Sort of like when Tony Lockett made his infamous comeback??
no dawes can actually move.

lockett travelled what 60km on the exercise bike?

Jack Anthony and Chris Dawes must fill the boots. Medhurst will get increasing attention and Cloke's performance'll dip with the best defender coming his way each week.

Fraser at FF not a bad idea, Bryan and Wood both in some form at the moment.

"Danny Stanley didn’t play last weekend, and he was so close to selection, so it’s good for him to get a game. He played against Sydney in Sydney last year and we thought he did very well, so I’m looking forward to him getting up and getting another game under his belt."

From MM's weekly email this week courtesy of Hiwire on EB&W.

Mick's had Danny at CHF before. He can also play mid and back so he might be in the thinking. Been playing really well without (as usual) getting the recognition others get. 28 possies last game , 32 the week before and really solid all season. Would be a good smokey.

Given that Stanley was recruited as someone who could graduate to fill Scotty Burns' role in midfield, surely the time has come to see if he can fit the bill. He struggled earlier in the year when given an opportunity but you can't write him off because of that.

Another strong body might be helpful against the Swans.
