hrm, well, i've gotta think about that one...
most people last time we did this said lamb or broadbrige, but honestly i think daniel breese.
no, its not coz i like him and whatever, i really thing he has something special and will go far. i had the same feeling about woey when he started out. he's built really well for a footy player,. he's tall, he's a defender (which we REALLY need at the moment). i really think he'll go well!
also, i think that one of our core players is really gonna be big this yr, but i'm not too sure who... also, i reckon someone like browney will be big. thats about it!!

GO DEES!!!

let me start by answering the title by saying I think about Nothing, nothing at all.

Anyways onto the topic... I recon TJ, but thats been said enough... so an outside chance, Ward and Thompson :)

We need another tall back so Im hoping either Lamb, Broadbridge or Breese can step up and play a solid year at CHB. Otherwise if Nietz/Nicho get injured were in trouble.

From all reports, Lamb has suddenly transformed into a reasonable player over summer, so Im looking forward to seeing him on Friday night.

I think TJ has what it takes to be a great player if he can keep his mind on the job. Hopefully his first full on pre-season will give him the kick start he needs. Did you know he's already been at the club 5 years???. Feels like we only drafted him yesterday...:o

Clarky!

Well we all know I think Clarky has the right stuff to make it far IF given the chance. (and he better bloody be given the change!! :( ).
Also I think Greeny and Brucey will really establish themselves and get more ground time and I also think its time for our Johnno to shine!

I'm also hoping Woey will improve and that Chell will be more consistant this year and ohhh Matty will be really good if he has no injuries!! *please please please.... crosses fingers!* :(

dees01, how can you say that if lamb doesn't make it this yr its the end of him?? look at how long we've held on to TJ, and also look at how long it took the club to get rid of gerge!! i reckon he'll stay a dee for yrs to come. coz he WILL be big.

lmao!! no, no, no!! although i must say that there's NOTHING wrong with schwarta!! hehe. actually, he has gotten into shape a little since the first time we saw this, so thats a good thing! :)
but really, i reckon he will be a great player in the futuer, i just don't think it'll be one of those *he's crap - bang - he's good* (even though i know he aint crap). i think he'll gradually become a terrific player...

GO DEES!!!

Looks like the "reports" were wrong. He looks like the exact same player that looked lost at Sandy last season. Maybe he looked so good in the intra-club match because of the opposition. Its not hard to look good in an intra club match if youre playing on David Nietz.

What annoys me the most though, is how the club keep telling you how well training is going, how well the recruits are going, how perfect everything is looking for the start of the year.................then you go to the first Ansett Cup game with high hopes, expecting a good show and you end up watching the team that has been going so well get belted by 70pts.

Ok I agree with you completely BPP!
I think Neale was stupid in playing experience over youth. People like Febey should not have been on the field. The guy is 32 for god's sake he deserves the rest during the pre-season cup! And now that he is injured Neale will have to bring into the team a few young players so why not do it straight from the start and save the heartache of injury?
Lamb was shocking, he should never have been matched up with Spider it was asking too much of him.
And who is this David Robbins? why did Neale play him ahead of players like Luke Molan or Steve Armstrong? And where was Clarky? I will keep insisting that he should get his go. If Lamb got a go why didn't Clarky get a bit of a run?
If he knew we were gonna suck that much, maybe Neale would have played our entire VFL squad, surely they couldn't have been much worse!

i couldn't agree more. we sucked. there's no other way to put it, and if we don't pick up after that match then we're in for a looooong dark season ahead.
i can not believe how $hitty lamb, biz and ellis played!! lamb especially (we'd been warned about biz and ellis)... they were shocking!!!
i dunno what else to say... it was a ****ty match!! nothing else we can do.

Take it from people who sat right infront of Lamb the whole time he played... the kid was lost. I'm sure he can get better but last night's performance by him was pretty slack. I guess he had a lot of pressure on him playing on Spider but he just couldn't man up properly or follow the ball.
Bizzell did ok in the second half considering he hasn't played defence in a very long time... and grrrrrrrr  Ellis is really annoying me, (the way I see it until he proves himself I have the right to give him sh it :p) he just doesn't get in there, he is tall yet he doesn't mark, he is atheletic yet he doesn't run, he is of a good build yet he doesn't tackle.... I just don't get what he does exactly but whatever it is, it ain't working! (until furthur notice Ellis stays known as "tan boy".... :p)

bbllaahhhh!! this is way too stressful for me... i know its not much, but keep in mind we had quite a few good players not playing, so maybe them comming back will do us some good...

I agree that the older players should have been rested and more young guys given a go, this will now probably happen in the next 2 games as we have little to no chance of making the finals.

Hopefully in the season proper the return of Schwarz, Nicho, Powell, Ward and Vardy will improve the team significantly.

Also Neitz should be in the backline no doubt.
Then the Backline could include: Neitz, Nicho, Ellis, Bizzel, Walsh, Whelan, etc and would be a hell of allot stronger than the one on show last night.

Neitz I feel could be covered in a forward line that includes: Schwarz (CHF) Robbo, Bruce, Green, Vardy and possibly Bizzel.

Add to that the return of Powell and Ward to the midfield, which allready boasts an inform TJ and White... Things dont look so bad, providing of course other players (Woey, Yze, Bruce, Robbo etc) run into form. On the other hand a performance like last night at the start of the premiership season would set us up for a poor year.
