Who do we hate more now?

Is it just me, or have the Hawks and their supports become more <insert word here>? or do we still hate the Old Enemies as much as always?

I'm a bit disappointed to see the Saints and Bombers level in the polling. You blokes should go back and watch the 99 prelim final. When you see tools come up like Moorcroft, Mercuri, Spewick, Michael effing Long, all the old juices start pumping again and that hatred boils up. Essendon for me every day of the damn week. Especially as we will rise up the ladder together now, and have had some cracking games the last few years. Doesn't anyone else remember them booting us out of the 8 this year? Come on you guys! All of us have reason to think negative thoughts about teams other than our own but in many cases this pertains to the supporters of those teams, ffs. Hardly reason to "hate" a particular club. Naturally some opposition players can cause the blood pressure to increase markedly. Messrs. Bewick, Morecroft, Milne, Milburn etc play in a style or carry out an act so heinous we feel the only just outcome to be termination with extreme prejudice.

I voted Hawthorn as the team that grates with me because of their spew-inducing "paid-up, proud & passionate" marketing style along with their ridiculous facade as "the family club". What the fcuk does that even mean? They have produced as many brutal thugs as any other team - probably more. I have never been fooled by this patently disingenuous, bullshit attempt to court supporters and sponsors alike.

I respect them, their achievement and their ability to cobble together multi-premiership periods of success. I don't hate them. It's a dumbarse term that is way over-used. I'm Thylacine60 - that's my take.

Being relatively new to the sport, hate was a big part of it when I first started getting into it a few years back, and the Bombers were at the forefront for mine, so many of their players really irked me (as did their huge winning margins over us during those dark years).

Port were another side I couldn't stand, the perception I had of their arrogance, that they were coming to the AFL to prove that SANFL was a better league than the AFL was good blood boiling fuel. I took enourmous pleasure in their consecutive seasons on the top of the ladder followed by their choking in finals.

As my addiction for the game continued to grow, particularly over the last off-season, I started missing footy so much I didn't hate anyone anymore. I remember a 5 second soundbyte on the news last summer with Choco that made me jump for joy because it was the only thing AFL I had seen on TV all week.

But then the season starts and you get passionate again. Is it hate, or does one just get severely irked?

I`m with you Thy, I just can`t be bothered typing that much. To summarize my view - I don`t hate any other club.

For some reason, there are some Saints supporters here who have allowed their hatred of Carlton to blow out to extreme, obsessive and completely irrational levels and BigFooty gives them the perfect vehicle to act this hatred out. It is pretty sad really - and to make it worse, they can`t even see how pathetic it is.

All that doesn`t make me hate St Kilda itself though as every club has its share of supporters who don`t paint their club in a particularly good light.
