Please I hope we pick up tippa this year. He's worked so ******* hard to get to where he is. He's obviously got the skills, and under a professional environment, I think we'll see a player grow beneath our eyes. We want players that have that desire to push themselves outside of their comfort zones, not entitled passengers that dictate what position they prefer to play.

He moved to Victoria from melville island because he thought he wasn't get the best out of himself, and wanted something more challenging. Could barely speak a lick of english, but didn't let that deter his decision to move. That alone should give you an idea of his character, and his desire to succeed in life.

At the very minimum, what's a rookie spot worth… We'll have at least 2 vacant come draft time, three if the berg gets the word.

come on efc make me happy
We'll have 3. Dodoro confirmed a McKernan upgrade, Steinberg can't be on the RL next year and Aylett unfortunately got delisted.

Sorry, that's what I meant. The state combine.

Does this indicate he isn't a good chance of being picked up?
It indicates that only 1 or 2 teams listed him as "interested". I reckon Essendon are playing funny buggers so as to not attract more notice from other clubs. We'd have tested him ourselves already and know what he's capable of and didn't want the others to find out some of the stuff that they'd be unaware of.

OK. That was a weird part of my post for you to highlight. So we'll have 3 rookie spots. ONE TO TIP!

How? That was the part I took interest in so replied to that part.

Wasn't Ambrose tearing the place apart, and people were fawning over him only to have him turn out to be a mediocre at best medium forward? These guys are speculative at best.
Not really. Ambrose was a very surprising selection at the time.

Has left, coaching Pascoe Vale next season.

There are 5/6 realistic candidates for me who could make the step up to AFL footy.

50. James Polkinghorne: Extremely consistent year, as shown with winning the B+F. Biggest question marks would be his age and his speed.
55. Anthony Tipungwuti: Best year to date. Smooth runner and good skills either side of his body. Biggest question marks would be size and tank.
57. Ben McNeice: Quick HB who has neat skills and defends well for the most part. Biggest question mark is his size.
58. Sam Tagliabue: Disappointing year but has shown previously that he can be a dominant tap ruckman. Biggest issue are his knees.
62. Dan Coghlan: Very good player, strong inside with good skills. Biggest issue is his lack of speed.
68. James Ferry: The ultimate 4th tall. Fast, strong, good overhead and good kick. Biggest issue is unsure of his ability to play on smalls.
Ferry has been asked to come back next year.
Essendon rate him but reckon he needs another preseason and season.
Two knee recos at 19 has left him a bit behind with strength.
Williamstown and port will chase hard.

Fair call. I reckon offering him a deal to see him transition into AFL training and then pick him up the following year would be a smart one.

What - Not of the VFL watchers on BF or BB ever discussed Ambrose as a potential selection - Not one VFL watcher.

Am rose was playing ammos after being ok at Coburg from memory
Ambrose will benefit from new bench rules as he is an endurance animal.
I wonder if he can run on the wing I loved the way he smashed hill in round 2

Coghlan and Ferry would be the only players I would consider this year. Ferry is more speculative about what I think he'd end up looking like as a full time professional (mobile 192cm half back who can intercept, rebound and pinch hit as a KPD).

Polkinghorne I am not as sure about. He is really good forward but then he did not really translate that into AFL performances and I don't think his midfield performances were all that great.

My hunch is that Tippa would be found out by the pace and intensity of AFL.

Tippa for sure. His pace and skill are both elite and he seems to have improved his engine enormously. Out of the others, Coghlan could go ok in the seniors but I really don't think he'd be a good fit for us as he seems to be a midfield or nothing kind of player and we already have an abundance of slowish midfielders who can get possessions. Polkinghorne and Hardingham are the only other ones good enough to play seniors but very little chance anyone would pick either up at their ages.
