Which young gun do you want to be in the Yellow and Black next year???

My belief is that Brett Deledio will be Number 1. Due to him being such a solid investment and the mere fact that Tambling is a bigger gamble than Deledio, and we are still trying to mold Andrew Krakouer into that position.

I think it might be singed sealed delivered that Lance "Buddy" Franklin will be a tiger next year at pick Number 4, with Tambling/Griffen expected not to fall past Hawks/ Bulldogs. If either of them do expect Tigers to pounce on either one. Seriously doubt it though.

Deledio and Franklin in that order for me aswell. If we lose Ottens, we need a tall.

It seems very likely from the way everyone is talking that Deledio, Griffen and Tambling will be the top three picks, followed by Franklin and Roughead. Seems like a few years back with Hodge, Ball and Judd, three great prospects but no clear number one pick.

Deledio may not be an in and under midfielder, but if we can get good picks in return for Ottens, we can pick up someone like Jarred Moore who is much more suited to be in close later in the draft to complement him, so he would be my pick.

Either way, 2 out of Deledio, Tambling, Griffen, Franklin and Roughead will be a great return.

Draft will go this way:

1. Richmond - Tambling
2. Hawthorn - Deledio
3. Bulldogs - Griffin
4. Richmond - Franklin

More and more rumblings point to Tambling being pick one. Accommodation already been discussed... Hopefully, the doggies decide they need a KPP more and choose Franklin, leaving Griffin to go to us at 4.

Tambling is going to be a high risk take at number 1.

Why not be certain and just take Deledio and hope that Griffen or Tambling falls to pick 4. If not we will get a great KPP propect anyway.

Deledio should be the number one pick!

Tambling is too much of a risk for us, we need to make this pick work and Tambling is way too risky.

Deledio at one and if the Hawks take Griffen the the Bulldogs need a tall and go with Franklin, we get Tambling anyway.

But what I want is:

1 Brett Deledio
4 Lance Franklin

That would be an awesome result for us.

Exactly, I think Wallace was talking up Tambling because if we do get him at pick 4.

Let's just say we take Deledio at number 1. Then Hawks take Tambling at pick 2. Well then Doggies still could take a KPP, by taking Franklin or Roughead, so that leaves us Griffen.

The best possible outcomes would be:

1. Deledio
2. Griffen
3. Roughhead/Franklin
4. Tambling

It all comes down to what Bulldogs want in the end, if we are going to get Deledio and Tambling

Deledio easy with top pick status

Richard Tambling, Ryan Griffen and Lance 'Buddy' Franklin are among the best young players who are set to be snapped up early at this year's National Bank's AFL Draft in November.

But the one who is looming as this year's number one is Murray Bushrangers' midfielder Brett Deledio.

The 17-year-old, who hails from the great sporting town of Kyabram in country Victoria was remaining calm about the prospect of being the number one pick.

"Being in the top few, there's not a lot you can do about that, so you have no control and you just kick back and relax like everyone does," Deledio told Sportal.

"After yesterday (Thursday at the draft camp), I felt the pressure a bit with the expectation that everyone thought I would be number one, but before that it was just my goal to get drafted, and whatever number that is, I don't mind."

With Richmond having the first crack in the draft, Deledio is looming at this stage as the favourite to head to Punt Rd, despite the fact that the Tigers are also considering Tambling, Griffen and Franklin.

Deledio said he had spoken to Hawthorn, Richmond, Western Bulldogs, Carlton and Adelaide during his time at the National Bank's AFL Draft Camp, held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.

But he is more than comfortable with the fact that he will have to move from the country to start a new chapter in his life, which is certain to be in Melbourne.

"It doesn't worry me at all. I've been away from home for extended periods of time, so it doesn’t really worry me."

Deledio said his father Wayne, who played one match for Carlton in 1975, had been a 'huge' influence in his career, along with former Kangaroos and Melbourne player and Bushrangers coach Xavier Tanner, and former Fitzroy player and Victoria Country Leon Harris.

if deledio, tambling and griffen are reasonably equal, would we be better off taking the best kpp in franklin at 1 ensauring we get the best kpp available and one of three virtually inseperable yet different midfielders?

At 189cm Deledio is as likely to be a KP player as Franklin. Deledio has played some full-forward and CHB. In addition he has played flanks, wings and as a centreman. He is a big-bodied midfielder like Pavlich. He could easily play as a Cornes / Bowden style CHB. He could also develop into a Kane Johnson / Mark Riccuito type. He is express, genuinely two-footed, and can kick goals.

Equally Franklin rarely plays as a KP player. He is a big mobile guy like Adam Goodes and tends to play wings and flanks more than CHB or CHF. He will be a 3rd forward or 3rd defender. He is more like guys like Daniel Bandy, Adam McPhee, Jason Saddington, Darryl White, Dion Woods, Leigh Colbert, Ben Harrison or Ray Hall. He is a very big midfielder more than a KP player. Probably better than all those guys but not a genuine KP player.

There are NO blue-chip KP players this year. Roughhead is the best but he will probably fail at CHF and become a CHB much like Justin Lepptisch.

Guys, good thread.

Best possbile outcome is;

1: Deledio
2: Griffin or Tambling

Deledio is the stand out player and the most safe get. Id be shattered if we didnt pick him up first.

Griffin is too good not to be taken by the Hawks imo. The dogs i beleive will pick up Tambling. However, if either of the next Griffin or Tambling dont get picked up id love us to get 2 of the mids at 1 and 4.

However, relaisticly itll go;

1 Tigers - Deledio
2 Hawks - Griffen
3 Dogs - Tambling
4 Tigers - Roughhead/Franklin

Logically speaking that's the obvious choices ATM.
But right now I in that Deledio is too good too miss out on at pick number 1. Then take a KPP at 4 or if we are lucky enough and doggies take a KPP. I think if hawks take Tambling there may be a glimmer of hope that doggies may over look Griffen and take Franklin or roughead, but I really don't see them doing that with Tambling.

Well I think it's widely agreed now that most people think Deledio should be the Number 1 Pick.

my order is and will hopefully be:

Richmond: Deledio
Hawks: Tambling or Griffen
Doggies: Franklin
Tigers: Griffen or Tambling

i really dont want Franklin for some reason he looks like he will be another dud, he is too risky like Tambling

Yep, thatd best possbile situation imo.

I'd be very happy with two of Deledio, Griffen and Tambling, but I think it's unlikely to happen, these three should fill the top three spots.

Looks like it. However it seems the Doggies are after a KPP.

I think the doggies will go for a KPP with pick 6, it just seems that at the moment Franklin and Roughead are not top 3 material (from all reports I have read) and with a pick that high, you have to go for the best available, not fill a specific position.

I suppose the possibility is that Franklin and Roughhead, apparently the two best KPP options, could go at 4 and 5, leaving the Doggies with the 3rd best option at 6, unless they jump the gun and go for one of those two at 3.

Which would be great, leaving us with Deledio and Tambling or Griffen

My GUESS is that the Dogs will go for Franklin at 3. They are well stocked for wingers and wide players and added a very similar player to Tambling last year in the form of Farren Ray.

Eade had a lot of success in Sydney with Paul Roos and used a lot of guys like Schauble, Saddington and Goodes who are more mobile possesion-wining bigmen. With Chris Grant to retire at the end of next year and him at CHB being a big part of their game plan, Franklin would look a good replacement.

I think it will go ...

1. Deledio
2. Griffin
3. Franklin
4. Tambling / Roughead.

I'd prefer to take Roughead because our KP stocks are absolutely dire.

I think the Dogs will take Tambling because of Darwin conection. So if we want him we must take him at 1. If we do take Tambling at 1, we may still take Griffen at four if the Dogs then take Franklin at 3.

So for me its

1 Tambling
2. Deledio
3. Franklin.
4. Griffin.

I want Tambling because when he turns it on can win a match in 5 minutes and from all reports his better than wells.
