Not Miller!

I reckon Watts will come in after a couple more weeks in the VFL (hopefully not against WC, he could use all of the publicity diversion he can get).

In the immediate future, we could move Garland up forward or play Grimes there. If Tapscott was fit he could play the role quite well. Juice an option too, especially after Martin's dismal performance last week.

I would promote Danny Hughes and see what he's got at the senior level. We've kept him as a rookie for a few years now, so maybe it's time we gave him a chance. Gotta be better than the Miller/Newton option. Watts clearly isn't up to it and Maric hasn't done anything noteworthy at Casey all year. Garland or Rivers up forward is an option and then bring Cheney or Strauss into the side to cover down back. Will be interesting to see what Bailey does. Anything has to better than his decision last week to bring Rivers in for the injured McKenzie....

Danny Hughes -
Danny was really good again. He’s such a great target as a forward. He had about ten marks, and he would have been in the top six players. His work rate is extraordinary, and his marking ability is fantastic. He uses the ball well, and we’re really happy with his performances over the last few weeks. He kicked one long goal again, which was nice to see.

I dont know what he has to do. But i reckon Brad Gotch has a case of man love for Danny

It costs $25,000 to upgrade him I think???, but we have invested enough in him over the years with no return (due to injuries), so if the club can afford it why not... If it does happen, don't be surprised to see little 2nd, let alone 3rd efforts from this bloke... 1st game nerves may change this but from what I have seen at Casey (not this year), he needs to make big improvements in this area.... I wish him well though as he has had a tough run & seems like a nice bloke...

There must be something about him to keep on the list for so long....
at 186cm and 82kg not much stands out. But surely something must be special to be kept on when he is 23.

20 goals in 12 VFL games last year 1 2/3 goals a game, not really setting the world alight.

If only Trent had been given the same leniency, he might have made it???, Hughes might be an example of a player who excels at AFL level, rather than be an also ran at VFL level... I really do think it is better to try him instead of Miller or Newton, it will at the very least give us something to look forward to with a NEW player who has played a fair bit with the other forwards who have spent a bit of time at Casey & they may gel as a unit...

Maybe really clutching at straws, but what the hell...
