heres an idea see if you like it
hf houlihan yarran browne
f betts fevola garlett
browne as a hff to add a bit of hardness the others have a lot of x factor
and yarran at chf he is very hard to out mark one on one. it would be very unpredictable and hard to match up on

Where is Hartlett at? Is he still in the rehab group or is he back in the main group? Also will he be ready for any pre season games?
Still in rehab group, not sure of prognosis.
If fit, hartlett clearly will get first crack given the way he is being spoken about by the key people at Carlton (although I can't help but think these commetns might also be designed to motivate him through his rehab). Unfortuantely, history tells us that we need a plan B
doubt his old man could do much in todays gameThanks Fernando
Plan B would have to be Cloke, lets hope he has been talking to his old man this pre season and getting alot of tips.
Im still not convinced with Cloke as a CHF, but would be willing to give him a go, Fisher would be my number one choice yes i know he was down last year but the year before he kicked 39 goals and had a great season
I would have our forward set up;
Russel Fisher Walker
Yarra Fevola Betts
Having russel and Walker on the flanks give's us speed and aggression as well as having two players capable of long leads up to the wing. Hopeful that Fisher can recapture his form of 07, as he has great hands and is a capable forward, this leaves Fev leading out into the 50 doing what he does best. having Betts and Yarran in the forward line is very handy seeing as they both are capable marks for there size good speed which will be good for defensive pressure and can crumb Fev.. If players drop back in his hole. Fev almost always makes a contest and bring's the ball to ground. Having Yarran will help take the pressure off Betts as being our only cruming forward
doubt his old man could do much in todays game
Brad Fisher 192cm, Andrew Walker 190cm, Jordan Russel 188cm, Brendan Fevola 191cm all seem around that height except Betts and Yarran, rather Kruezer play ruck which best suits his athletic ability and skill, Would have Houlihan coming off bench, great skills and HFF seems his position but his soft as butter so i would rather work with Russel as he seems to have better defensive pressure and more aggresive at the ball. I would love Cloke to take CHF but im just not convinced he can. So i'm happy with the Forward line i put up. Would differ depending on who where playing, but as we don't really have a proven CHF in our side a rotating Forward line would be the best go i think, making it hard for opposition match ups. Like the West Coast eagles of '05 and '06 there goals came from a spread of players rather then a FF and CHF.Very small forward line, surely you would have some tall timber?
Houlihan Cloke Betts
Yarran Fevola Kreuze
Does that make Barnaby French?![]()
Nope not related. But he's a better chf candidate than anyone on the list.
My half forward line? I think you'll find that was our match committee's for most of 2008, leading up towards the wings.
As I said, I think Kreuzer is still too young and fragile for CHF. As for Murphy, isn't he a centre-square player? Other than those 2, we agree on 4 of the other players...
I think Kreuzer would be the best option for the job. Richmond have Jack Riewoldt playing there for us, despite being young, inexperienced and lacking bulk; traits shared with Kreuzer. Cloke is big enough and strong enough, but he's slow. I think opposition coaches would be more worried about Kreuzer playing 75% there, than Cloke. Kreuzer just has more than Kreuzer, and with Hampson and Warnock fighting it out for #1 ruck, it would be better for the development as a team to play Kreuzer there. Just like at Richmond, it would be better for success to play Simmonds at CHF and try out some of our younger rucks, and play Riewoldt as a 3rd or 4th tall. But in time he should step up to the CHF role, so we play him there now.
Yep yep, my bad. You know what I meant.
Good pick up though.
FWIW, I think Kreuzer will be the best of the lot of them![]()
Get on Harts I'd say. He's got enough skill to make it at this level and hs name's been spoken by the key people at Carlton to suggest that he can do it. Obviously injuries are a problem but let's hope that after he recovers from his latest injury he can play injury free for the rest of the season and prove his worth.
