Unbelievable!! You can't say m*dget anymore on BF. It is translated as 'short people'. My earlier 1984 remark is not out of place. What a saccharine place this world is seeking to become.

Christian was never slow and was far braver and hard at it than he is given credit for.Daw him knocked out running with the flight at Vic Park one day and he didn't hesitate to goThought he was 193cm
(Close to 2 metres on tippy toes)
And he was close to 100kegs so could wrestle with Tomahawk
Love Howe - keeping him

I think Millane would be used on the inside in the modern game.I thought maybe an in and under mid like Tony Shaw might be more of a need than a strong bullish wingman. Went with Millane as he could go forward or into the middle too.
Craig Kelly was not considered tall enough to play on Salmon, and nor was McKeown, which is why Christian was selected to play. Kelly at 190cm would hardly be capable of playing on the tall KPPs playing today.I'd have to pick Daicos because the alternative is to not pick one of the greatest players in the history of football and I can't be doing that.
Pants because he was brilliant and would give us the combo of power, run and skill to bridge our older mids and the kids.
Have to go positional with the third choice. Looking at the list, it's bonkers that Manson was only 194cm! A lot of our "taller" players in '90 just aren't that tall by comparison with today. So on that basis I've gone for Craig Kelly at 190cm. He had his limitations but he'd stomp on some Gen Z toes and pinch some skin and generally keep me entertained while locking down a second or third tall.

Left field picks - Tony Francis, Graham Wright, Doug Barwick
You nailed it Domus
Brown was a better footballer than Christian but we need a KPD more
At his best, Graham Wright would also have been useful on the wing
That was a very good Essendon team we beat in '90
I recently watched the 1990 qualifying final replay. I pondered the dream scenario of being able to select three players from that side to help get us over the line at the big dance.
I finally bit the bullet and chose Michael Christian, Peter Daicos and Darren Millane.
Have I missed obvious players to meet our current needs?

I'm aware and would still choose Kelly and play him on the 3rd tall for fun.Craig Kelly was not considered tall enough to play on Salmon, and nor was McKeown, which is why Christian was selected to play. Kelly at 190cm would hardly be capable of playing on the tall KPPs playing today.
If this is simply about picking the best players, then I will take McGuane, Daicos and Millane. I am sure we would win a GF with those 3 and our existing squad.
Maybe the Brown brothers have made us forget just how good their father was as a player. Gavin would no doubt be useful in our forward line and his courage would be an inspiration. But Millane could also play that same forward role.Gavin Brown!
I am not an early morning person. And spelling![]()
I think Millane would be used on the inside in the modern game.
Why Morwood? I loved him as a player, but can you select him on a 'needs basis'?This would change my positional choice i.e. Tony Francis.
Daics-Millane-Morwood

He was surprisingly tall for a flanker at the time. At 191cm, he was taller than Kelly and McKeown, our key backs until the finals forced a change to counter Salmon at full forward.Great question and I'm not sure my reasoning stacks up.
From that team he is the closest we had to a Clement i.e. very skilled by foot and effective 1:1 even if a bit undersized.
I think he'd transition very well to the speed and style of the modern game whereas I'm not sure about the rest of the backline.
Monkhorst's lack of teeth would be a novelty in this age of perfect smiles. The one question mark over Brown would be his kicking, a slight weakness that his sons' have inherited. But his versatility would allow him to be used to plug holes.Daicos, duh. Imagine the chemistry between the 3 of them! Straight in for Bianco.
Gavin Brown. Can play FF and can play in the middle. Would give us yet another hard head. Straight in for Carmichael.
The third is tricky. I would love Pants (or Wright) in for WHE, maybe. Monkey in for Cox would be hilarious - imagine Monkey and RamBeau hitting the same contest together!!
Grundy in for Cox, Quaynor in for Ruscoe, De Goey in for AJ, Adams in for Noble or Lipinski (either would be incredibly stiff).
Murphy - Howe - Maynard
Quaynor - Moore - Crisp
J. Daicos - Pendlebury - Millane
N. Daicos - Cameron - Elliott
P. Daicos - Mihocek - G. Brown
Grundy - De Goey - Adams
Lipinski - Ginnivan - Sidebottom - McCreery

Francis would have given us more bite in the clearances and pace to get away. From memory he was riddled with injury later in his career and finished up at the Saints for a year. However he played well when it counted on grand final day. He would actually be an asset to our current midfield with his ability to win the hard ball.
