Worsfold has said the Eagles consider their 1st round pick tradeable if there's an offer good enough. I was just curious who Geelong fans would consider trading for say pick 6?

absolutely agreeAsk again after the finals are finished. What happens between now and then will have a huge bearing on how we evaluate where our list is at.
stokes is not worth a first round pick.
IMO giving up a talented 24yr old player who has already played in a premiership side and represented Vic at AFL level is worth more than gaining 6-10 places in the draft. We would be getting a raw deal if that was to happen. I think some people forget that he is only 24 (turning 25 in November this year) and that his best footy is still to come.

Stokes has jumped the shark. He represented the Allies, not Victoria, and many even considered that to be a surprise
His best efforts now represent sprinting to the vacant goal square whenever a pack forms in the forward 50. He doesn't crumb the packs or kick goals off the ground.
He's not a trade proposition as he has lost his pace and isn't as good a mark as someone like Medhurst.
Cats would have been smarter to trade him after 2007 instead of their former captain/B&F/AA ruckman
The thing is, I think by getting as asset like pick 6 in a draft, and freeing up cap space, it benefits us in two ways..
1- Adding a talent like that to our list would be invaluable, especially if we can get a gun midfielder to add to our line up in 2-3 years.. eg Rich, Palmer..another selwood??
2- Cap space is crucial..I dont think losing stokes hurts us much, small forward is a position where geelong is loaded. By trading Stokes essentially for a young Rookie that means if it comes a time after next year where we need to add some $$ to a contract offer to Ablett or Selwood to compare against the Gold coast then whatever cap room we would have would be invaluable...Obviously we cant go offer against offer against GC, however if adding 50-100k to an offer means we may intice Sel or Jr to stay then i believe we should have that cap room available...
If a trade like that was to go down, maybe we could add an asset from WC like a 3rd rd pick or a rookie...but I think a package like I offered would be fair...Just a thought
Theyre not just gonna give the pick away for players like stokes and tenace alone..
I came up with a suggestion in the main board which people thought was fair...
TO WC.
Stokes + Geelongs 1st round pick (12-16)
TO Geel
Pick 6
Benefits for Geelong are a shot at a stud in the draft, while being able to give stokes a better oppurtunity at another club, it also gives Geelong some breathing room salary cap wise...and Geelong has more than enough smalls up forward to move stokes..(Bynres, varcoe, ablett etc...)
benefits for the eagles are they get a 30-40 goal scoring crumber and only have to downgrade 8-10 spots in the draft so they still get a decent pick...
Wouldnt give up our first pick.
Thats a keeper.
