Personally I think the VFL side has played okay given how we have been slayed with injury. Both rucks ended up going down tonight and they ran over us in the end. Few blokes like Davey not looking like they have a future.Watching VFL and it’s bad vibes.
just an unwillingness to do the hard stuff and a lack of trust in their teammates

I never really rated Davey. I reckon he’s just as bad as when he walked in the door. Not hard enough and has never had the core strength.Honestly watching Davey tonight made me sad. He seems pretty checked out. Gave the sideline a good spray after a teammate basically spoiled him from cleaning up their fumble.
3 years at the club and he’s worse then when he got here. That’s true of quite a few players.
Seemed pretty in line with most on the list across both games.
there’s a few in the 13 players over 25 games that are a bit of a worry9 players under 25 games. Tell me a side that is going to be competitive against one of the best & most experienced side. This is our reality and for once, it’s actually a healthy one
Spot on.Attributes, attributes and attributes.
We have a bunch of players especially in the midfield, who at any given time are smaller, aren’t stronger, faster, have better endurance, iq or skills than their direct opponent.
Why are Caddy, Clarke and Johnson good prospects? Why are Durham, Duursma and Martin our best players? Because they have good attributes that actually sometimes places them as better than their opponents in a lot of match settings.
The endeavour to not want to appear to lose in a situation has clearly been felt hard by the football club. The previous regime should have let a couple of the guys go via free agency and taken the (assuringly) early pick (Parish, McGrath etc)Umming and ahhing over draper, he's no good , much like the club he plays for. If you can cash in, cash in.
when we were handing out contracts like lollies post saga, it was pretty evident thenOne thing that does not get mentioned is the fact we turned into a club with a soft culture and a bunch of flat track bullies and it has seeped into most corners of the club. We have tried to take short cuts to fix it which simply does not work either. We are shit because we have built a poor product in various areas. We lost the focus on football and became about having 80,000 plus members and a strong bottom line rather than actually winning games. You reap what you sow.
Agreed. As I've longed half- joked, we are the Essendon Marketing Club and have been for years and years. One thing that does not get mentioned is the fact we turned into a club with a soft culture and a bunch of flat track bullies and it has seeped into most corners of the club. Mentioned many years ago that the Blues had outside control issues. Have also been pretty out front here about outside influence being an issue.when we were handing out contracts like lollies post saga, it was pretty evident then
Think people are realising the undeserved contracts of Parish, McGrath, Redman etc and can see just how cancerous the previous list management was.
I posted in the Barham thread about the Mick Malthouse / Carlton views looking eerily similar to what we are now. Exactly what you are talking about. More interested in chest beating about how great we are (reality is 'were') and the bums on seats.
Do yourself a favour and try get ahold of it, great read and some strikingly similarities to what we are at Essendon mate
