I still can't believe how lucky we (Hawks) are you guys passed on Franklin...

I really wanted the Hawks to take Tambling in that draft, I wanted some pace in the midfield and was disappointed feeling like we missed out.

Not trying to rub it in, my bro is a Tigers man and I like them as my second team, I always back them...except against the Hawks!

By the way - Deledio looks fantastic on the lead in the forward line!

We passed buddy for the same reason the Bulldogs did, he had a history of off-field problems.

He still has those off field problems but to his credit he performs on the field.

No doubt a big mistake by Richmond AND the Bulldogs

i was happy too when we got tambling.. but to see what buddy is doing breaks my heart.. he is already an absolute superstar.. oh well.. cant turn the clock back so we will see what happens in the future..

Why did the Hawks pass on Selwood in the last draft? It is easy to be wise in hindsight isn't it. Remember Hawthorn chose Roughhead before him too.

Instead of coming here and starting a stupid thread like this you should remember that it was more due to good luck than good management...

Ask me in 5 years if we ****ed up. Only then will I be able to give you a complete answer. Tambling IS going to be a star (barring injury). He just needs more time. You recruit players for 10 to 12 years, not 3. So get off your high horse (because Buddy has just done so well lately) and stop being a smart aleck!

we took tambling cause we knew franklin would be better then him clearly.

well what do you want us to say.

you cant tell whos gonna turn out to be a gun and who isnt.

tambling looked the goods at that age but buddy has developed into a far superior player.

Why? The same reason you guys and the Bulldogs passed on him. We felt there was someone with more career value in the offing. In fact, we thought that there was two players. Time will tell if we were right.

Richmond couldn't have had both Pav and Franklin. Reason being is that if we'd taken Pav, we would've won more than four games in 2004 and therefore not qualified for a priority picks.

Hawthorn didn't really want him either. Just dumb luck he fell into their lap. They didn't rate him that's why they took Roughead first expecting us to take Franklin. They were actually trying to force us to take him. Lucky for them we rated Tambling more which was still the correct decision at draft time in 2004.

Don't see why Hawthorn supporters should feel smug? Lucky, relieved, grateful, happy yes. Smug No.

The only reason we cop this rubbish as much as we do is because Hawks supporters felt let down and disappointed at the end of the 2004 draft and they are now just really really REALLY happy and relieved it has worked out OK for them. The less mature ones (supporters that all clubs have I might add, we are not immune) feel the need to rub our noses in it. No doubt we earned this with the behaviour of some of our supporters after the 2004 draft.

Que Sera Sera. This thread is not the way forward for either Hawthorn or Richmond. Personally I do not find the goings on at Hawthorn in the least bit interesting. I have no great love or hate of their team. I didn't even realise they had won until this morning. Good luck to them.

In all fairness to Tambling though he's only 20 and we probably haven't seen the best of him just yet. He wouldn't have been picked at number 2 if he was a total dud.

unfortunately for him and the RFC Franklin and the HFC will continually rub this in our faces but until they get the ultimate glory it will be to no avail.
