I started following Carlton when I was 4 (1982). We had just moved to Australia and my dad worked with Paul Meldrums dad at the time. I went to the Fitzroy Gardens with my dad to kick a new footy and my dad booted it into a tree. We couldn't get it down and the next day at work my Dad told the story to Paul Meldrum's dad. A week later I received an authentic VFL footy signed by the whole 1982 premiership side. As I didnt know any better, neither did my Dad, we went outside and played footy with this ball in the wet, I used to leave it outside overnight, I let the dog scratch it. A few years later it was just a worn out flat ball - but my love for the Blues stayed on forever (as do the memories of that ball)

The Flying Doormat...

That was the reason my dad followed Carlton... and ever since I was a tiny baby... i wasn't watching Humpfry bear or the purple dinasaur... it was VHS's of Carlton games

And the next Blues supporter is my daughter. She is only 2 years old now but from the day she was born I didnt know any nursery rhymes so I just sang WE ARE THE NAVY BLUES over and over. She would fall asleep easily. Now after a win she hears the song, she sings "we are the baby blues" - she doesnt know the word navy yet so she replaces it with baby! She loves it

I supported Essendon back in 2000. Changed to Carlton half way through the year because my best friend convinced me:p Essendon went on to win the flag that year aswell haha.

Fantastic...:):thumbsu:

My dad is a mad Carlton supporter, translated that love for the blues into his other passion which is soccer. I've always tended to follow all the same sports teams as him so this was a no brainer. sport was drilled into me from young age.

He has some crazy stories about starting the 87 grand final in top row of the top level of the G and somehow sneaking his way into the change rooms at the end of the game celebrating with the teams, at which point Craig Bradley turned around to him and his mate and said "who the f*** are you?" because they were almost in the showers haha.

On my dads side he has 2 brothers, 1 of them is Collingwood the other carlton. On my mums side 1 brother goes for carlton as do his kids, and other brother is collingwood but one of his 3 kids is carlton. so its pretty much all blue.

My dad at the age of four, put a yo yo underneath my pillow. It was a Carlton yo yo and my brother got a Richmond one. From that time on, Carlton was my team. Furthemore i lived 1 km from the ground, i have great memories of this club.
Back in the finals, enjoy the ride Carlton supporters win or lose a final. Scream your lungs out for our side, i have been doing it for 35 years plus. The decibals are going to go up a notch, starting this week against the ferals. just warming up for finals!!!

Dad worked on the wharves in the 50's and 60's with a lot of new Italian immigrants, they all followed Carlton, influenced Dad so it rubbed off on us all, they whole family are Carlton and one eyed, have a spattering or two of Bulldogs.
Huge memories of the premierships of the 70's and 80;s big family parties everyone in navy blue...bewdiful

I'm a filthy rich criminal...

please TG you are spoiling the warm fuzzy feeling reading this thread gives me - Carlton admin or Bluseum could use some of this stuff. I sure am glad I chose this thread to bump - it was a sensational first post by the OP (I know it may well have been done years ago but I will give him the credit) :thumbsu:

First football game l ever went too! Nth v Carlton. My 2 male cousins where picking on my female cuz.. So like a gentleman l sprung to her defence and started cheering on Carlton with her and we won and l've never stopped since then and that was 41years ago!:thumbsu: have been fustrated at times but never regrettted it....

first ever post!!

born and bread into a family of carlton...

some of my earliest memories was my old man taking us to princess park most weekends, we would sit behind the goals and the old dude used to walk around yelling 'peanuts peauttts....!' in broken english... you'd throw him a $1/$2 coin and he'd throw them from the boundary line... if they didn't make it to u, fellow carltons in front would pass them up until they got to u.

those were the great days, and we used to win a lot too :)

good times
