He has been the most important person within the club the last 2 years, coming out of contract end of this season, and still hasnt been given an extension.

Surely he has performed outstandingly since gaining the job.
If he isnt signed up quickly he could be poached by a victorian club.

I doubt he would leave for more money. I remember Bill Sanders saying a coupel of years ago that no one that is wanted by the Club would ever leave for more money as the Crows can pay what ever they like. It was something along those lines anyway.

Funy how things turn out.

Remember when people were calling for his head after the Dangerfield/Hudson decisions?

Also, would love to know how you rate him the most important person at the footy club.

Dangerfield looks the goods. Otten is promising so far as is Petrenko. But apart from these guys the other picks haven't really proven anything yet. Does anyone think we may be singing Rendell's praises just a tad early? (That's not to say he may not be deserving of it down the line).

IMO Dangerfield Otten Petrenko and potentially Cook and Sloane in what others called a weak draft gives Rendell a pass at least.

The real test comes in drafting talls because that is where Fantasia/coaches have failed every time in the past.

If Davis and McKernan turn out trumps and make the grade as good or better KPP's then Rendell should be regarded as fkg brilliant. :)

Who found Walker?

Fantasia, Rendell or JR?

I'm pretty sure the story is several clubs wanted Walker. But the crows were hesitant due to an injury he had. The club then realised how in demand he was, and Walker only wanted to come to the Crows. So it appears Fantasia almost ****ed it up, so we can thank Walker for being a Crows supporter!! :p

So no one found him. Good one Fanta Pants.

Pretty close. There were 4 clubs other than Adelaide keen on him (his dad said Collingwood, Western Bulldogs and 2 others). Walker wanted to play for Adelaide, and gave them every opportunity to take him by knocking back offers from Coll/Dogs etc.

As you said the Crows were hesitant due to his hip injury which he got riding his motorbike, and wanted to give him an extra year before signing him up, however their hand was forced as Walker said if you don't sign me now I will go to another club.

Thankfully they decided to take him. :)

But it does appear, from what his dad said, that Walker was VERY VERY keen on playing for the Crows all along.

I'm assuming he will replace Reidy.

was this before or after we started collecting food stamps to pay for rookies?

Had no idea bout this - pretty awesome though, makes me like the lad even more.

Never thought of that - but you might be onto something.

So who takes on the recruiting duties if Rendell becomes Football Manager? If our '07 crop is anything to go by, looks like he's doing a pretty bloody good job there, why play with a winning formula?

Rendell had the adantage of having basically been a senior coach with Thomas at St Kilda

He knows player attributes for the modern game

I'd certainly favour someone just out of the coaching box ........and who has a Sth Aust connection as I feel the person needs to understand SA footy
