The guy who stayed loyal and became a one club legend...What if it was, say 30 goals?
Say Lloyd kicked 120 goals and Franklin only 90, who would you say was the better full forward?

You specialize in arse finding as well...Wow this place is kinda weird..
I think that was my point arse finder..wow, more proof of your higher intellect ........
Why?Haydn Bunton Snr, Roy Cazaly, Gordon Coventry, Jack Dyer all played before him and all would qualify as superstars.
And it's amazing how many *Essendon supporters believe that coaching a team after you've retired somehow makes Coleman a better goal scorer during his playing career.

Why not?Why?
Thought soWhy not?
Hudson averaged more goals in a poorer side.
Hudson kicked 150 goals in a season. Coleman only got to a measly 120.
Hudson kicked more goals in a game (16) than Coleman (13).
Both had similar careers yet in all areas, Hudson wins.
Glad to hear it, now if you had a point I'd also like to hear that.Thought so

What is this FR? Pretend I'm Hodgepodge day? Arbitrary stats is arbitrary. Come up with all the stats you want, this crying is beneath you![]()
Not crying more pondering in disbelief...
1925-1960.
Never ******* happened.
The criteria is simple enough. John Coleman never played in a full season where someone kicked more goals than him. Never.
No other football player in VFL/AFL history has achieved this.
Seems straightforward enough to me.![]()
and the Bombers still cream their pies over him.
/quote]
is that like the pies getting wet over gordon coventry?
Incredibly involved critera? Floggishly one-eyed argument? Haduken, you've turned into HodgePodge.
Really? You're quoting the AFL now? Sad day. Next you'll be saying Silvagni was a great FB.That's the criteria the AFL used. I'm simply stating the truth you silly man![]()

OP has a point.
Entire footy world is wrong.
When the club you're playing for is a consistent finals side and wins flags, you should have a bloke kicking goals.
Yet in his full five seasons, Coleman only kicked 495 goals.
Hudson kicked 598 in his first five seasons and yet his side wasn't even good enough to make the finals in four of those years.
Worse side = Less opportunities yet he's kicked 103 more goals?
Not the entire footy world, just the one eyed and delusional....
Is the same one eyed and delusional people who named the goal-kicking award after him and added a statue of him to the MCG?
Those delusional people?![]()
I've already addressed the issue with the medal naming - another black smudge on the Essendon report card.
And given the propensity for the AFL community to pump up past champions and then fall in love with 'the story', what records has Coleman set that are unmatched? FFS, most of what he achieved has been bettered by other players. Even Allen Jackovich, for Christ sake.
He's got those things through his 'story'. If he hadn't died young, he'd be just another hasbeen that faded into the history books.
Makes you wonder what Neil Sachse or Peter Motley did to be ignored given their talented careers were also cut short by injury.
Shit, even Lee Walker deserves a HoF spot given all you need is potential and a good story.

Hudson's rarely placed in the top bracket with Coleman, Coventry and Lockett. He's back with Wade, Titus, Lloyd and Dunstall, just ahead of Beecroft, Serafini and Templeton.
Given Hudson's stats it appears wrong, I agree. Think you might be onto something.
It's only because he played for Hawthorn.
Hudson - overlooked
Dunstall - same
Tuck - would be a legend if he played for anyone else. Kids today have never heard of him, Alle de Wolde has more profile.
Big Fish - played his career at Essendon, crosses to Hawthorn for 5 minutes and makes their TOTC.
It's because we're big and awesome, and you're small and shit.
I think that's solved this conundrum. Any time.
Let's move onto the next one - why did Dick Reynolds receive all those accolades when Grant Birchall gets more rebound 50s?
