As a Sturt Supporter i followed Begley at St Kilda....this boy is quite tall and a good mark(ie 13 marks last week) very strong and very quick...along with great skills.....hes not so much of a carey like player....more of a Chris Tarrant, which enables him to play well when the balls on the ground! I think id pick up forward rather then smart, basset or Mcgregor?

ANY THOUGHTS
?

a chris tarrant, ohhh damn those saints supporters must be kicking themselves lettting him go.

Well he took the most marks of any Adelaide player last game - so you might be onto something. I think all of his football this year, for the Crows and Sturt, has been played in defence.

I might be wrong but I think the reason he is not played up forward is because he has very suspect shoulders. I am of belief that its easier to be a good mark of the ball in defence that it is up forward. When you are a forward you get belted from pilar to post. As I said Begley has suspect shoulders and playing him up forward would increase the chance of them popping out.

Just a tought.;)

Before being drafted to St Kilda, James use to play along the half backline for Sturt reserves.

He was always a good carrier of the ball from the backline and through the midfield.

I honestly think it'd be a waste to play him up forward.

Just play Welsh at FF with Burns out of the pocket and Perrie at CHF. Let Begley play the same role he has played in the last 2 games as he was bloody awsome.;) :) :D
Is Welsh only being played this week because neither Carey or Burton came up as expected? I hope we are not rushing him back & he reinjures himself... but we badly need another marking target up forward.

I don't think they would rush him if they tought there was any chance of injury. Westies have the bye so if he is not playing for the crows then he'll play Sturt(??????) reserves. I would play him. He won't be exposed to a LOT of work at FF.

He'd be playing on arguably the best full-back in the league on Matty Scartlett though. (unless Scarlett takes Perrie)

How mobile would Welsh be after two long injury layoffs in the last 12 months?
You don't use mobility over night. Besides his last injury was a broken thumb, hardly loose any mobility from that:p

Heis mobile and his areobic capacity wiuld be up there but its only a matter of match fitness. Charlie Walsh does wonders with his cycling training.;)

Leave Begley where he is - he's burning.

A good example of this is Smarty. Takes a lot of marks in defence but very few up forward where you have your opponent, the resting ruckman etc crashing into you all day.

Ah OK, I thought he was still having OP troubles.
Hopefully Welshy is well over his OP problems with this extended break. He will lack match practice as he has played very little footy in a year. This being the case, he will probably best suited to playing out of the square, rather than the floating forward role he can do so well (when fit).

I think he is not really a KP type. To me he is more of a running player. At Crows we have a player who plays similar sort of style as Tarrant. His name is Trent Hentschel.:) He'll be a very good player in the long run but he has to get back to some sort of form.:(
